Hopefully, one day I would like to father some children. Attractive, intelligent, little meat heads. Lets say for the sake of argument that doesn't come to fruition. And born to my wife is a child. wHILE still in the womb, Ultrasound detects some horrid physical deformation. I can't honestly tell you that my first inclination wouldn't be to discuss, damn it. Now IM in a catch 22 because, I am a ardent supporter of right to life. I was going to say I would consider offering input advocating the termination of the pregancy, just to save my child the torturous years that would be ahead of him. Since I pressume myself to be a believer in Jesus Christ, I couldn't in good conscious end a life in that fashion. Ughh, what a horrible situation to ponder. I thank god for my below than average intelligence. I can't imagine what life would be like for the seriously impared individual. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Let your concionce be your guide. You seem very close to your beliefs so maybe God wants this to be a test/learning experience for you. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Twist, I believe everything happens for a reason. I also believe God only bestows these situation on people that can handle it. My belief is also that God allows us to mold ourselves, therefore we may develope the inability over time to handle these types of obstacle in some cases. I cases like this some other person developes the ablitily to over come the same obstacle and manages this situation for us. I realize this is a little deep, but my believe is in God and a little tech(common sense)every action has an equal or opposite reaction. This did not answer your question directly, but i think you will get the gist. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

TS, you believe in God just like me, i have seen people healed of some of the worst things you can imagine. I believe in my heart that Jesus would heal this fetus/baby if you pray and have faith. Sorry if this bothers anyone else, just giving my opinion to a bro, not only in the iron game, but a bro in Jesus as well... BTW, why are you asking this? are you curious? or you know someone going through this? ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]()

That's one hard questions TS. I can't say what i'd do and i dont think any of us can comment on it unless they've been in that situation. Situations change so much when they're actually happening as opposed to just talking about them. I can sit here and say, that within the first trimester i'll get a keryotype done and if there are any genetic diseases then we'll abort it. It's so easy to rationalize sitting here, but to actually do it, to think about killing my kid??? I don't know if i could ever do that. I honestly hope i never have to face that situation. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Whoa, gentlemen Im sorry if I conveyed this thread in any fashion other than one based purely on the hypothetical. I had been reading alot of discussion on euthenasia. I figured I would offer this horrid situation for some of you to ponder. I meerly used myself as an example, for the sake of simplicity. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

This is not hypothetical. What I am going to tell you is something that I went through. My girlfriend has 1 child (whom she adopted from her Junkie sister) and became pregnant at a time in our lives a few years back that we were I'll able to afford to raise a child. My girlfriend had already had two miscarriages in her life. We plannned on having the child adopted by a really nice Palm Desert couple. When it came time to deliver the Ultrasound showed no signs of life. Our baby was dead-apparently he had the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck and died. He had major hydrocephalus and would have had major developmental problems. I was only able to barely glance at him. to this day I regret not being able to look fully at the little boy before he was buried. That moment will stay with me forever. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well I can tell you this, when my wife got pregnant with our second child, we were told it would be a Down's child....we had a second opinion and the same answer....we could not take that life....My son is no 7 years old..and no he is not a Down's child....but you see it would not have mattered.....just look into their little eyes or hear them say "Dad I need you to do this or that...or I love you !!!!!!!! The tests were wrong in this case and the Doctors "were so sorry" for the miss.... but it really doesn't matter...!!!!! Later, Ralphe ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
