Fellow Elitefitness people,

ITs no suprise to any serious body builder that form is far more important then any weight you can add (so i hear). In order to get good form, its said, and read that you have to do your sets slow, both on the possitive and the negative. The question that comes to my mind is HOW slow is slow?

On the positve (the major muscle being worked on) i go for 3 seconds, and on the negative I go for 4 seconds to complete on rep. Is that good or bad? I did notice that withing 4-5 reps going this slow, the burn is instantanious, and the amount of weighht I can push is about the same as a middle aged school girl. Is this good or bad, for a guy that wants to get as cut as BRUCE-LEE?

How slow do you guys go?

I do an concentric movement over about 4 - 6 seconds, I do the ecentric movment between meals it takes so long! Bwwaaaaahhhhh.....

Usually 4-6 each way, sometimes longer on the ecentric motion.

Try it with sex too. Damn awesome!

When i bench,I just hold the bar strait in the air and let it free fall all the way down to my chest and hope it bounces back on the rack. Maybe I need to work on my form?

also try holding the weight at the sticking point of the positive portion. You will feel a good rip when done correctly.
Don't do it all the time just for a change of pace

Are you people serious? Lisa_The_Strong, each of your reps is 12 seconds total? At that rate a set of 10 would take 120 seconds...I doubt it.

I am not trying to flame. I just have a hard time believing anyone is doing a 12 second rep.

My lagging biceps have been responding very well to my current regime of 200 3 sec up/2 sec down reps and 40 6 second negatives. (over a 20 set span) Twice a week.

overtraining is for pussies.
