what do you all think about what canada said. it was when bush said that he wanted closer ties with mexico and canada said that they would stop being partners with the u.s. I am not sure if thats right or not but could any body clarify what was said. ------------------     | ||

I have nothing against you canadians but your rep said it. he would end trade or something like that. oh and canada lets all the immigrants in. havn't been to the u.s. lately. india mexico china etc. I think immigration over the centuries made the u.s. what it is today. the economic super power that it is. ------------------ | ||

I was just kidding dude. I dont follow politics at all. Its true most people who immigrated to america has made it really well because they needed to. I'M CANADIAN AND I THINK WE ARE THE LEAST RACIST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!I never heard the disscusion you are talking about but in my opinion they probably are against it cuz it seems like canada always gets screwed in the free trade agreements, and if the us starts trading with mexico how could canada compete?The us isn't going to buy from canada if they can get it way cheaper in mexico.So it would definetely hurt canada's trade industry. that's my take on it anyway. | ||

hmmmmmm....we need more immigrants. The average birth rate for Canadian-born people is 1.2 (I don't know where the .2 fit in, maybe mongoloids??) and the immigrants in Canada double the Canadian born birth rate. We need the people. Our country is too big for the small amount of people we have, And that is why we are such a economically nutless country (but I still love Canada, we just need to grow a pair) ANARCHY!!!!!! | ||

you know the mexican president wants to open all the borders and let everyone go back and forth right. Canada is the US's biggest trading partner, i really don't see that changing too much in the future, it's just too convenient for both sides...Canada racist, i don't think so...90% of Canada's population lies within 100miles of the US border (that has nothing to really do with anything) ~leaf~ | ||

Hey guys, I'm from Canada too so I thought that I might give you my 0.02 on this subject. As I see it the "We don't want Mexico in on the free-trade thing" is not related to racism but rather to economical reasons. Simply put, our (Canada's) big selling point for exportations is the low cost of our products (mainly due to the exchange rate) that is what enable us to have a huge volume of exportations in the US. What our government was afraid of was that Mexico could offer similar products, but much cheaper (because of cheap labor) and thus that we would lose a big part of the US market to Mexico. Since most of our international economy is rooted in the US that loss of exportation volume could be very hard on our economy. This is the theory ... however I strongly doubt that the reality would reflect that theory. Now, as far as Canadians being racist I can attesr first hand that this is the biggest bunch of bull I ever heard! I don't know if you remember the "Molson Canadian' ad where Joe talks about being Canadian ... at one point he says: "I believe in peace keeping, not policing. Diversity NOT assimilation and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal!" I think that it sums it out pretty well | ||

Buffed thanks bro I was confused on that one. I am not racist I don't really care about the issue but I didn't mean to affend some of you. thats my bad I was actually talking about the political parties not the citizens or immigrants. Some of you need to stop feeling sorry for your selves saying that the citizens have it worse than the immigrants. maybe you education and major choices of life made an impact on where you currently are. maybe those immigrants have good educations and deserved those cars. A lot of us have it bad but feeling sorry for ourselves and making these comments will get you no where. ------------------ |
