Hi, I am having a hard time understanding why everyone on hear has something negative to say about Bill Phillips and/or Eas. I've seen one of the Body of Work video's that promotes the Body for Life challenge and they send me a lot of mail and stuff. I think the Bill Phillips has put together a great program to help people with transforming their physique. The only down side I see is that one of the "performance packages" cost like 230 dollars for a month supply. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

You just answered your own question. 230$ a month would be 460$ for two months. I dont know about you, but I can make a nice cycle of gear for that much and I would KNOW that it would get me results. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Garza, this is off topic, but how did you pick your screen name? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

First off, the guy was a big gear head! He used and advocated the use of steroids (which is goooood). All of a sudden, he changes everything around and starts preaching about the evils of steroids to gain mainstream appeal. His magazine (muscle media) used to be the best mag for steroid related info... he's a sellout to a lot of us whove been around for a while... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

from the mfw faq.... When Bill Phillips first started putting together educational materials (and they were educational) for bodybuilders who was one of the first, very honest, people in the business. His newsletter and books pointed out that professional bodybuilders do use drugs, rather than hiding the fact as many publications attempt to do. Bill brought honesty back to bodybuilding. He recognized that steroids were used and that the claims for supplements were rarely founded in fact. However, Bill's tactics began to change, presumably as he recognized the potential for monetary return. He also began to hype supplements claiming some were as good as steroids. Unfortunately, he was doing the very thing he had previously exposed as, virtually, fraudulent - making false claims with respect to products that will earn him money. In addition, Bill began claiming that certain athletes are 100% drug free, when, in fact, these athletes had used steroids in the past. Granted, they may have ridded their bodies of exogenous steroids, but the long-term effects of these hormones can provide benefit for some time after their use has stopped. For this reason, many people view his 100% drug free claims as misleading as well. People began disliking what Bill has become compared to what he once was. Some still argue that his magazine is one of the better ones around. At least he still recognizes that pro athletes use drugs and he encourages natural lifters to choose natural role models. Furthermore, a few people in mfw have been paid by Bill, or his enterprises, as employees in the past. Some worked as freelance writers while another worked with the supplement company. Some of these people left Bill's employment dissatisfied with the circumstances. Some believe they were treated unfairly by Bill or his associates. One way or another, Bill was once highly respected and now he is viewed on a similar level with the majority of magazine publishers who are supplement pushers. Some people on mfw do not hold this opinion and they still believe that Bill's publication is one of the best bodybuilding mags around. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I used to be a big Bill Phillips fan, but I'm pissed because he used my own desperation (and stupidity) against me. I so desperately wanted to be big and muscular. He showed me pictures of people who looked humongous! I though! wow! these guys did that naturally using only supplements! all I need to do is optimize my diet with supplements, and my body will grow! Too bad I hadn't realized that most of those pictures had been enhanced. Guys were tanned, the lighting was proper, and they were flexing in the positions that made them look biggest. I was all a lie! I could not have 19" arms with his plan! I wish I had known all this 2 years ago, so I could have used all the money I spent on real juice, and I'd be far ahead in my training than I am now. It was that piece of @$#% Kal Yee that somehow influenced Bill to change, and he's also the one responsible for all those "enhanced" pics... ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]()

The guy makes millions each year by lying to people and telling them his shitty ass supplements are going to make them into bodybuilders. When anyone knows there is only one type of supplement that really works.. Phillips is a marketing genius, he realized the best way to market EAS was through Muscle Media 2000. The promotions and concepts that he created have set the standards for all other magazines and supplement companies.. This is where I give the guy credit. Now Bill has all the money he needs to buy his gear, because he knows that is what truly makes one a bodybuilder.. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hey you all, thanks very much for the replies. I didn't know anything about Phillip's past. I really am not against him still. I think the muscle media mags are great and yeah maybe the supplements are a bit hyped up and over priced, but he is very good at what he does. And by the way EMT, the reason I picked this screen name is because Garza is my last name. Its spanish and most people call me that......i like it....so therefore i used it lol. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I guess I don't really hate him, but he dissapointed me. BTW- You guys notice that the models in Muscle Media are constantly getting smaller! I remember MM2K the models were like 220-240lbs then they went to 200lbs, and lately the models look like they're 180-160lbs... ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yes Bill is a businessman.......and has touted natural stacks with "steroid-like" proposed effects that just don't pan out. He knows juice is the way, but if you look at how many lives he's changed for the better albeit becoming rich at the same time.......he's really not that bad a fella. BTW......I love the taste of Myoplex, and it's the perfect base for test....lol. delts ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Garza, selling stuff like HMB, CLA, and andro-6 would be more than just "a bit hyped", its more like 100% fraudulant. He is also unethical for using a charity "Make a Wish" foundation as a front. Everything Bill Phillips has done has been for Bill Phillips, nobody else. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well I was watching a video today in marketing, and it looks like Saw Walton was in it all for himself, too. He found every way to cut cost it seemed...and maxmimize profit. He didn't seemed to be worried about the satisfaction of his employees there for a while. I guess Bill Phillips is no worse than him. Just trying to make himself a living, and doing a good job of it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Bill also posted "sources", supposedly to educate his readers about who to buy from. Ofcourse the feds were right on that. See Hulkter's Newsletter's for more info. he than started to hype the supplements, incinuating that they were as good as the roids. Bill has more money (ours!) than he knows what to do. He's a narc! ------------------ quote: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thought the Body of Work video was great becasue it made me realize that if these guys can do it, so can I. I entered the challenge and took my pictures but never received the stuff in the mail. All of this is okay because the challenge is about me and I will just do my own before and after pics. As for the supplements, I am happy with what I use and where I get them from. And that's about all I have to say about that -Forest Gump ![]() ![]() ![]()

EVERY GUY IN THAT FIRST CHALLANGE HAD TO BE DOING SOME KIND OF JUICE. Especially the guy from FRISCO, you just don't get that kind of vascularity without some kind of bump from the sauce. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

My brother just e-mailed me yesterday that he and his wife are dong the Body for Life thing. Oh god. He was complaining that is was so expensive to do the program. I told him that HMB is probably bullshit and he's like "Now you tell me!" And he's like "Some of the winners MUST have been juicing". He and wife did end with up with a great "before" pic...he said they drank beer and ate buffalo wings for a week to prepare hehe. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

There is significant research that shows that HMB can have an effect on fat redistribution although not much if any on muscle building. Mass Quantities was selling HMP at about a third the price Philips charges. Here is the response to the litigation threat letter we sent to Philips laywers. Interestingly, we were on the Internet before Philips even knew what it was -- his lawyers accused us of shady business dealings and hiding out on the Internet. I guess we got the last laugh.
As we discussed in our telephone call of January 20, 1998, Mass Quantities, Inc. has stopped its DOMESTIC sales of its HMB product. Although our counsel has assured us that we have not violated the HMB use patent, your threat of legal action and the associated costs brought by your client Mr. Bill Philips and his company EAS, has necessitated that we cease selling this product. Most importantly, Mass Quantities does not agree with your clients assertions that it is selling HMB in violation of a patent. We do agree that a USE patent is held on HMB, however, this use patent is only held for two very specific claims one being for cholesterol reduction the other being for nitrogen retention. Mass Quantities has done extensive research on the HMB compound. While we are suspicious of the EAS claims of cholesterol reduction and nitrogen retention, we have found undeniable research that indicates the effectiveness of HMB as a fat redistribution distribution agent an area that is clearly not covered by the Philips/EAS USE patent. We have been in extensive contact with several of the researchers of HMB including one that is unbiased and which has pioneered many of the studies on KIC and HMB in regards to fat redeposition. This researcher and would be considered expert witnesses in a court of law and would most definitely testify that the fat redistributing properties of HMB have been understood for quite a long time and are completely separate from its cholesterol reducing and nitrogen retaining properties. We also have reviewed numerous studies including the August 1994 edition of a journal produced by the Department of Animal Science of Oklahoma State University. The study, The Effects of Beta-Hydroxy-Beta-Methyl Butyrate (HMB) on Performance and Carcass Quality of Feedlot Steers, further confirms the fat redistributing properties of HMB. We therefore were selling this compound for an entirely different and equally legitimate use. Again, as I wrote above, the only reason we have ceased DOMESTIC HMB sales is that, as you, and Philips/EAS very well know, Mass Quantities is a small company and we cannot afford the enormous cost of defending ourselves in a court of law. We have built our business by offering the highest grade of the most exotic supplements to our customers at an outstanding value. While we do offer our customers a pledge of purity based on independent laboratory analysis and an unconditional money back guarantee, we do not spend money on expensive advertising campaigns, we do not maintain expensive call centers, and as our customers well know, our packaging is very modest. These savings allow us to offer products like HMB to the consumer for the same price and Philips/EAS with a small difference our bottle contains an additional 50 grams of the HMB compound. Several of the other points of your letter also merit a response. You have claimed that you would contact our Internet Service Provider and kick us off the Internet. Obviously, you were hoping that we were somehow nave and that you could just railroad us with ridiculous threats. The Internet is a public forum and although we may disagree with you on a number of important issues, we respect your right to your opinions and we respect your right to state your views in any public forum that you might choose. We would appreciate the courtesy of the same respect that we have given you. You have questioned the legitimacy of our company and stated that we contribute nothing to the area of sports nutrition. This demonstrates how little you actually know about our company. We have already helped fund university research on androstenedione, which will soon be published, and we are currently reviewing several other university studies for support. Furthermore, Mass Quantities was the first company to introduce the vastly superior norandrostenedione (as compared to androstenedione) to the sports industry as well as our newest product, 5-alpha-androstenediol or Pentabol. We also have in the works some of the most innovative and revolutionary ergogenic aids that will ever be developed and are working with some of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers in the world. We disagree with your claims that we hideout on the Internet, somehow trying to deceive our customers. We run our business on the Internet because it allows us to offer further value to our customers that includes 24-hour shopping and additional savings from lower order overhead. We have never and we will never deceive our customers. We are always forthright and honest and are always the first to tell our customers and the public the truth. HMB can help redistribute your bodyfat, but we would never claim like EASs Mr. Philips that the dietary supplement HMB, somehow feels like Deca -- the anabolic steroid nandrolone decoanate. Lastly, you mentioned in our telephone conversation that Philips/EAS has taken it upon themselves to have our HMB and other supplements lab tested and that as they expected the results showed the HMB was impure. Before you make any false accusations, please make sure your facts are accurate on this matter. We strictly test HMB and all our products at San Rafael Chemical Services. This independent laboratory analysis proved that our product contains exactly the amount of pure HMB that is stated on our label. As to it being impure, this is obviously due to the fillers that are required in the encapsulation process. Of course we are certain that we will read more about your own lab work in the upcoming issues of the Philips/EAS publication Muscle Media. And we are equally certain that a fine publication such as this one could never be accused of stretching the truth or be accused of any errors of omission. I sincerely hope that we can conclude these legal maneuverings at this time with our agreement to cease domestic sales of HMB. We are eager to get back to work offering new and exciting products to our customers. We would challenge you and your client to end legal battles with us and to spend productive time offering value to your customers as well. ------------------ George George Spellwin

bill phillips used to have the best magazine in mm2k, but he sold out to make more money and toned down the magazine, he also sold his morals that he tried so hard to sell to his readers in his magazine, at the same time he was telling everybody this and that will build muscle ( look at his HMB product, what a joke and ripoff ) this guy is basically a p.t. barnum from the word go! ![]() ![]() ![]()
