Today I went to the gym for a chest, bicep & tricep workout. I started with the bench press and was doing pretty good, felt pretty strong so I decided to go really heavy without a spotter (WRONG FUCKING MOVE!). As I got almost to failure on my 4th set I tried just one more and couldn't get the dam thing up. So it fell into my mouth and chipped my two front teeth and my gums were bleeding. There were two other big guys there but they pretended not to see me with this thing on my chest. I had to let the thing fall to one side on the floor to get from under it. So for the rest of my workout I was swallowing blood and the two guys were looking at me like "what an asshole." Afterwards I called my dentist and he had me come in. He did such a great job with some bond shit that you can't tell they were chipped. But I was late two hours for work. (I just wanted to share my pain.) | ||

Damn, you're lucky all it did was chip your teeth. I've overestimated my strength on the last rep without a spotter a few times. I always maintained control of the weight though. Glad to hear the dentist could fix you up. ------------------ | ||

I'll give ya one to make ya feel better... Ok, so Im doing calf raises on a smith machine (standing on a platform). I got 6 plates per side, doing good, feeling it real nice. Being on the platform, Im hooking it on the top pin, so I rack it on the pin and step away for a breath... wipe my face... and WHHHAAAMMMM! It falls off the pin, all 12 plates straight to the ground! Small children in daycare fell to the ground to never stand agian. Everyone looks. What can you do? I said "Hmmm, damn." and got a drink of water... | ||

I remember doing s.l.deads once on a step, about 8 inches high.....well, I was quite full of myself that day and overly confident.....after having done squats and a few other leg exercises, I thought hey, I'm not tired, I'm doing more....well, when I did the deads, I did about 5 and then fell on the step on my ass, sitting up, bat across my lap....didn't I look cute.....moron I was... | ||

hope your ok. I have got to ask...what in the hell was the bar doing over your face? You need to change your form...the bar should be coming straight up over the lower chest. Most of the really big benchers recommend straight up over lower pecs. Even for those that recommend J type pressing movement, the bar shouldn't come over face. | ||

I HAVE POSTED THIS TORY BEFORE BUT IT PERTAINS TO THIS SO FUCK IT ' I WAS SPOTTING THIS SCRAWNY NERD ONE DAY AT MY GYM WHILE HE WAS DOING DECLINE BENCH..HE HAD 75 POUNDS ON THE BAR A 10 AND A FIVE PER SIDE ..HE GRABS THE BAR AND IS ADJUSTING HIMSELF WHEN SLIP..CRACK.THE WEIGHT FALLS RIGHT ACROSS THE BRIDGE OF HIS NOSE I GRABBED THE WEIGHT QUICKLY AND PUT IT ON THE RACK....WHEN THIS GUY SAT UP..BLOOD JUST POORED FROM HIS NOSE..I LOOKED AT HIM AND TRIED SO HARD NOT TO LAUGH...WHAT AN ASS ANYWAY I GLAD THE DOC HOOKED YOU UP NICE..NEXT TIME DONT BE TOO PROUD TO ASK FOR A SPOT PEACE ROMEO ------------------ | ||

I think it sucks that those guys would not help you, especially if you were hurt. I know there is a "let him learn a lesson" component in there, but after a point, what kind of people are these?! My gym seems really civle...I'd like to think people would help me if that happened to me. Maybe the bar fell cuz you tore a pec or something..they don't know the reason. |
