Looking for cheap laptop or pc. Wheres a good place to find? I dont need a brand name label, but it must be new and reliable. I dont need a workhorse just for play and net shit for home, Id like a laptop as I go away fairly often. Anyone know good websites? I read a while back that they were givving pc's away but you had to look at ads on the damn monitor - Id rather not do that, but any info appreciated. Slopain     | ||

Slopain,I am looking to sell my Compaq Presario 1610 laptop. It's kinda old but still is in good shape and nothing is broken. It is 150Mhz,1.6 gig HD,16Mb RAM,ect. Its not blazing fast but for a 2nd 'puter its good. Im asking $450.00. Let me know what you think or email me. ------------------ | ||

Remember if you get a used PC loaded with software, get the back ups because when it crashes (and it will) you're gonna be screwed if you don't have the discs. You should be able to get a used PII system w/monitor for about $300-$400 w/o extras. Add more for printer, scanner and other goodies. Some sell them for more which is ridiculous. You can get a new Celeron 500mhz for $500. | ||

WEll just walk into Circuit City and buy one. Like I said you can a get low end NEW computer for $500 straight up (no rebate BS) w/monitor. You ain't really gonna pay less than that for a new unless you get one built and even then it's kinda iffy. | ||

A 500$ NEW LAPTOP!!! HAHAHAH, sorry, anyways, yea, PC's are alot cheaper than laptops, you can get one for 500, but there is no way in hell you can get a new laptop at 500, they start at a Grand, and thats for the shitty ones, GET A USED ONE!!!! ------------------ | ||

Yeah, I don't what you were thinking if you thought you were gonna get something new for less than $500. And a laptop is even more out of the question like natymike said. I've always felt a laptop should be a 2nd computer. When I see people buying a laptop who don't have a desktop, those are usually people who don't know much about computers. Laptops are very temperamental, ie. they fuck up way more than desktop PCs and need more way more TLC. And if I was gonna by a laptop I'd definately buy a new one with an extended warranty because you'll probably end up needing it before it's all said and done. | ||

ok seems as if I am speaking japanese here. WTF I never said I expected to pay less than 500 for a laptop please read MY replies not people who misunderstood what I said. Im NOT new to computers at ALL, I am the first to say I dont know a lot, but I know a whole lot more than most. I was thinking of the new laptop to replace the old tired one for misc shit but basically to log onto the web while away. This isn't a flame, and I could have wrote clearer and added a comma or two.
