..a little food for thought

where did you expect your life to be when you were younger...did you have a hunger to acheive your goals ..and do you still have that hunger..has your life been fullfilling ..are you content with what you do...if there was one thing about your life..not body tat you could go back and change ..or do differently what would it be

?????????????????????????????????????????????

When I was a little kid, I always wanted to be a baseball player. I played all the time.
As I got a little older I became more fasc0ianted playing basketball - and worked my ass off to get to the NBA. It didn't work out, but I played D-1 in college and had some fun along the way. I was too fucking burned out to gooverseas and try to play (which is actually what my younger brother is doing now - in France).

I became an Army Ranger after that and I'm glad I did, although it's cool to be a civilian again. Then I got involved in Networking, and I am doing very well.

The point is, that although the scenery changed, I always knew that I would be successful, if I made the effort to do it.

Matt

oh.. this hurts.

I would have kept my mouth shut. I would of lied. I wouldn't have been honest about feelings I had. The result of my honesty caused me to be on the streets at 17 doing whatever to have enough money to eat.

Perhaps that is why I work so hard now.. the memory of that time is just too close.

It's a little freaky, but when I was younger, I would tell my parents & grandparents about things I was going to do. I was so young that I don't even remember half of the stuff I said. But when I would actually achieve said goal, my parents would say, "I remember when you were 4 years old and you used to talk about bla bla bla all the time, we never thought it would happen!" And it's not stuff that could be twisted to fit any situation. Like I said, a little freaky.

Having said that, there has always been a very strong confidence that I would come to greatness. There have been times when I wasn't clear on how that would happen, but that inherit belief in myself never changed. And judging by the amount of things I have achieved at this age - all of which I apparently predicted when I was a kid - my confidence to achieve more is increased.

There's absolutely nothing I would change. I've made mistakes like everyone else. But even some of the hard times (and there were many) that I've gone through, I've always believed in myself and what I could accomplish. The way I see it is; everything I have done up until this point is dependent on EVERY decision I have ever made. If ONE thing was different, I may not be where I am now.

And then I realize that true happiness is when you would repeat every single painful mistake you ever made ... just to be where you are now.

That's where I am.

Caesar,

Very well put. I am in a comparable situation of being willing to re-live all the screw-ups to get to there.

Pokemon: MCSE and CCNA, in school for CCNP.

Matt
