Try Celexa less side effects than both of them.

Every individual is different. What doesnt work for me might be the best thing for you.
I've been on just about everyone of them,
Paxil worked for me but incresed my appetite
to much. That is one of the main sides of paxil, maybe when I go on my bulking cycle I
switch back.Im going back to the prozac in the morning & the Trazodone at bedtime, this combination seems to be the best one so far.

It seems like alot of us are on anti-depressants.

It's true that each person will have a different reaction to each of the meds, but it's also possible to generalize from eth experiences of others, so this dialog has been helpful.

I now take 40mg a day of prozac,When I took
paxil it was 40mg a day.I weigh 250 so naturally I would have to take more to get the same effects.

I am currently on 75mg of Effexor. Prozac didn't do much for me, and neither did Zoloft. Celexa turned me into a worthless zombie.

It's true that every medication works differently depending on the individual, so do the research yourself, you can't trust your doctor to know anything about it. They are worthless when it comes to these types of medication.

I have had pretty good luck on Effexor compared to those other drugs. I had muscle spasms at night for the first two weeks, but they went away and I haven't really had any other side effects.

Seitz,The reason I started taking antidepressants is because I lacked motivation at the time & I was having sleep problems. So getting in the gym was even harder before I started this medication.I've
never heard that it takes away your drive to
lift, but I could understand what you mean.I think I noticed that feeling on the paxil.I
also take caffeine or a eca stack before I
lift but I always have, years before I started any meds.

This in no way is a flame, I just don't understand. Why are so many people taking drugs just to get thru the day? Do you guys honestly feel that you need them, or are they just a crutch? Just wondering. Thanks.

Rotten, You were asking why people were on these medications. Many are depressed, cant sleep, have lost motivation ,cant concentrate, or feel like shit.
I was extremely depressed for quite awhile longer than I'd like to remember and can relate to people wanting to STOP feeling this way.
Pharmacological interventions such as SSRI's (antidepressants like Prozac,Zoloft, and more recently Celexa) can help people get back on track.
I tried Celexa and ate like a fucking slob. I gained 14 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks. I was even more depressed than when I started.
I just bailed on that and got over things on my own. Others cant and thats why they seek help.

I dont think nobody wants to be on antidepressants unless
they have to.I cant speak for everyone but
I do need them,I guess the deppression
started when I was having so many family problems.I never slept & I would go out & get
in fights just for the hell of it.I was not a
pleasent person to be around trust me.

Rotten I couldnt really understand why people needed anti depres medication until I didn't feel like I used to, for some reason I would take a nap for hours or more. Thats all I really likes to do. People that cared alot about me told me to find out why I was feeling odd. So now I dont want to take naps as much and I'm feeling more like myself. Thanks all of you for you r input....

I've felt the same way before, but I think everyone gets into a funk now and then. You just don' feel like doing anything, and your wondering what the hell. I appreciate all the comments to my question. When ever I get down I just make myself get up and take care of things that are bothering me. Maybe some people can't do that, I haven't walked in everyones shoes, so I don't know. This is not being critical of people who need the medicine, I'm glad its there to help. Whenever I get down I tell myself that everyone is a loser in life sometime or another, the trick is not acting like one. I'm not calling any of you losers. The pure fact that your trying to help yourself makes you winners in my book. Thats just what I do for myself. Thanks again for your response.

Its not a matter of feeling like a loser or anything like that. Its like being metally drained all the time. As for me everything in my life is going good but I just want to sleep. Now that I've been on zoloft I sleep sound which is good, something that I havn't had for a long time.

I've been on paxil and now I'm on Effexor and buspar. Paxil was the better drug as far as treating depression and anxiety, but the side effects on paxil were pretty big. On paxil, reaching orgasm was impossible (and I'm only 27), even had chills, and coming off of it was a fucking nightmare. With effexor i've had none of these problems. Effexor all in all, I think is a pretty good drug. If you want to treat anxiety try some buspar with it.

Buspar gave me the worst headaches in my life and screaming nightmares - I'd literally wake up screaming.
Now I use Paxil for the depression and Serzone for anxiety. NO side-effects from the Serzone.
The sexual side-effects of Paxil lighten up over time. Also, about 250 mg. /day of Gingko Biloba helps with that.
