I agree with the general idea here... missing out on a great girl because somebody thinks it's inapropriate (for racial or other reasons) is just plain stupid. It's kinda like winning a million bucks and then refusing to cash it in because one of your friend says: "it's wrong dude, it's not you and it will take the best outta you" If you really like this person, your parents/friends will find a way to accept it. It's not to say that they will be happy about your decision but they will respect it. Both my parents are psychologists and I was brought up in a very behaviorial environement (based on feedback). Because of that there was a time when I could not do anything that I thought would hurt my parents or anything that my parents believed to be wrong ... it was a true mental block and my life, especially social life sucked for it. One day I said "Fuck it!" and decided to do what I wanted ... my parents are still and will always be very important to me, but I have my own life to live and it's no theirs. Oddly enough, using steroids was the first "bad" thing that I did and kinda pushed me toward personal growth. | ||

I date mostly white women, both Spanish-speaking and non-Spanish, but I've also been with women of other backgrounds. I think the reason why wouldn't marry someone of a very different ethnicity is because we would have completely incompatible world views, and that would inevitably lead to conflict in the relationship. Also, since we're talking about "race" here, Hispanic/Spanish is NOT a race. Both my parents are from Argentina, so I know what I'm talking about.
