Im half Korean and half white and I can tell you that you shouldnt give a shit what anyone else thinks. My moms parents disowned her for marrying my dad, and my dads mother disliked my mom. After I was born they took her back and my dads mother just had to live with it or fuck off. Theyve been married over 20years now.     | ||

Not a problem for me. I was involved with a African-American girl 2 years ago, and some of my friend have dated outside their race also. Most of my friends are black anyway, so I really don't think about it that way. | ||

This is an area were no one will ever be know whats right or wrong. I have avioded this post. Most of you know I personnaly try to never see color and take people as individuals. The only problem for me is the kid factor! In my cleaners there is a customer who has a mixed baby and althougth she is down right beautiful she can't find a man. As soon as they see the kid no one will talk to her. I feel so bad for them because that boy will need a father figure and they are just hardly getting by. Actually, you guys are both wrong. The Spanish brought over more slaves than any one. And that is not Anthropology, it is Geography. As I remember, the Spanish were not "white". | ||

I just wanted to thank everyone for replying its really good to see what people think. I figured I would give you a little more background on my situation. We are both 20 years old and she is half spanish half black and honestly one of the most beautiful girls not to mention the most fun kindest, sweetest, greatest girl i have ever met, and i myself am 100% italian and my parents are pretty old school. So for any of you who are familiar with any italians you probably can see the problem. My parents will not have it! I have asked, even begged them to try and meet her.....they know who she is becasue we went to school together but thats about it. She cant call or come over and they forbid our relationship and i really cant do anything about that because my parents pay for my education, so there is not much i can do. I really feel bad about it and i dont know what to tell my girl. The only thing that keeps us together is that we are PERFECT for eachother and that is what makes this so damn hard. it is a really tough situation, I would honestly give anything for my parents not to give a f*ck. They make me hate being italian and I get so f*ckin frusterated......i guess thats why this post is so damn long I really need to get all this sh*t out. I hope I dont sound like a mental case because I'm as normal as they come but anyway, any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated! Again thanks for listening (sort of). | ||

I used to have a problem with this interracial thing some years back. But then I grew up. Joined the Corps and met a lot of different people from different races. Tried a few of them too. Hell if I know anything, but I sure couldn't tell the difference there. Ideas, thoughts, feelings, likes, dislikes, shit they were all the same. The only thing that matters is how you feel and how she/he feels about you. | ||

What are you talking about? What does that have to do with the Portuguese being European, and thus white? I'm really confused here. If we go by some WASP definition of what "white" is, then most white people in this country would not be considered white. Ok, fuck it...No more "racially" charged discussions. I'm sick and tired of arguing with people who probably can't even locate Europe, much less Portugal, on the map. | ||

guess your parents are just scared of the unknown,just carry on with your relationship & when the time comes for you to settle down, then you may sit down with your parents & explained things & stand your ground,in the mean time concetrate with your studies. I've experienced the same things your parents are going thru, my son went out with a chinese girl & I was terribly worried,different culture(I'm pakistani) & religion,etc..etc. but what makes it worst is I've no one to talk to about my fears(I'm divorced)My son stand his ground & myself just refused to give in,my son left to live with his mom & I woke up! they're now engage hope to be married next year,me? I now love my future daughter-in-law.What a feeling. | ||

I don't like it. You would think that some of these guys can find someone to match them from there own race. For example, black pro athletes: have money, fame can get whatever they want and yet they cant seem to find 1 single black lady to be with. They have to go white. Are blacks girls that disgusting that you have to go against your heritage and ruin it? | ||

First of all, I think this was a black and white question. It wasn't said, but implied. Second of all, Almost all the replies are about having sex with a member of a different race. Guys will sleep with anyone, so that doesn't really answer the question. Would you marry a person of a different race? Well the cries of "small minded people" "racist" etc. I believe are coming almost entirely from people in their 20s. Remember the hippies and their cry for peace and love. Then they grew up and found out they needed a job. Ask them now about living on peace and love. They are probably some of your parents. Try working next to a black person that doesn't have the knowledge or desire to do the job, but has it anyway. Try feeding your family when a black person with infinitely less qualifications gets the job you should have. Try losing a job when a black person with less seniority and less qualifications is still working. If we all were REALLY equal maybe we would have a chance. We've HANDED out to much without earning it, that's why our country is in decline. I say lets stick together and fight the black oppression. | ||

I'm half japanese and half "white" my girl is black (from Kenya).Where we live in Canada we get stares from everyone,it's like they've never seen a halfy(Asian/Whitey) with a black person.We don't get treated all that good sometimes.It's weird and the funny part is that it's an area heavily populated by Asians. Akbar, I am not a racist. Where did I say I was better than a black man. I said if I am more qualified for a job I wouldn't get it because I'm the wrong color. It has happened. You want to talk about racists. Listen to a group of blacks when they don't know you're there. I just want everyone to be EQUAL. Blacks want more than equal. I was standing in the reg office at Purdue University and a black girl walked in with her mom and her lawyer. They stated that her grades should be higher, but her teachers were racist. They changed her grades right in front of me. No investigation, ALL her teachers were racists. I don't think so. Everyone is so afraid of being labeled a "racist" we're not standing up for what is right. | ||
