I happen to work at a funeral home. Yesterday this elderly couple came in and asked for my assistance in helping them sale some cemetery property that they no longer wanted to use. Further into the meeting they informed me that "we are not prejudice, but we can't sale these plots to any blacks." When I asked them why not they said "when the ressurection comes and we all leave our graves, we don't want the people next to our plots to be mad at us." With a look of total disgust on my face, I told them that I would not be able to help them and that they could go to the other funeral home in town. It's pretty sad that such ignorance still exists in the year 2000. As for me, if all of a sudden I was thrown out of my grave and to the surface, I really wouldn't care what color the other people burried next to me were. ------------------ IP: Logged |

My friend I agree that was ignorant, some elderly whites(NOT ALL BUT SOME)were brought up in a time where I could understand(NOT THAT I AGREE ONE IOTA)why they would say something like that. Its ignorance mixed in with a little cultural and regional upbringing and brainwashing as well, they just dont know any better. No doubt they were wrong. ------------------ IP: Logged |

As I understand it, Our bodies are just shells or houses for our souls, but there have been many debates on the resurrection subject. For example in Christianity, if one dies and their soul goes to heaven how can a soul be resurrected if it already is in the place of attainment. Why would God come back and resurrect a soul that is supposedly already in heaven? Are their 2 resurrections? etc etc. These questions have been asked for many years , there isnt really a right or wrong answer, I have my beliefs and others have theirs. I have met a lot of "older" people like that in my lifetime also. It's like, they don't really mean any harm, but they are so stuck in their old way of thinking, that sometimes they can't seem to help the WAY they think. I don't know whether to feel sorry for them or to hate them. For example: My girlfriend works at an "exclusive" hotel in the city we live in. She has a lot of older "rich" White people who stay in the hotel. When some of them happen to see her at the reservation desk they sometimes say, "Wow....you are very pretty, for a Black girl!". That's kinda like an oxymoron. They give her a compliment, but then they have to say something ignorant to finish it all off. That's why I say, sometimes they can't help the way they were brought up so she also doesn't know whether to accept the compliment or to hate them. I'd say the earth is going to smell so bad of rotten flesh at the resurrection that I for one won't give a flying fuck what colour my neighbours are.
