i just laughed today when i was at the gym. i notice it alot, but for some reason i had to laugh today. the personal trainers are fucking weasels. its so annoying. they think they are hot shit cuz they PAID 400 bucks for AFAA to tell them the answers to their test. ive taken the tests, they are worthless, basically they weed out morons... and half the time they dont even do that. ive seen people get trained for months without making progress, yett the trainers keep taking the money. its a pay for certification, if they sold it at kmart it would be just as good as the tests. anyway..........

and what pisses me off the most is seeing some poor fat ass breezing through his workout with shitty form lifting the weight with momentum and not muscle while the dumb fuck trainer with his thumb up his ass is not even paying attention

I was talking via email to someone on this very same subject.. I work out at Bally's and every personal trainer I've seen there is rather chunky, and one of them is pretty fat. The guy that runs around cleaning everything has a better body than all the trainers there -- and he's the one making next to nothing!

Well at our new club that just opened, they hired a girl to work there who has never stepped foot in a gym! She admitted that to me. She has a degree in kinesiology?...I think that is absolutely ridiculous!

I am always suprised at the fact that people will stay with these fucking morons. I mean, would you go to a dentist with crooked yellow teeth? Maybe it's cause the PT's let them slack so much and they think it's ok 'cause 'my personal trainer said so..'

Friday I start the AFAA course, I know, it sucks you have to pay so much and anyone can do it. I have been training people and writing workouts for years. I decided to finally get paid for it, but there is no way around cerification, you have to have it before gyms will let you in to train clients and you have to have the cert for liability. Anyway, I'll let you know how lame the seminar is.

ic, i took that afaa class 4 years ago. they highlight your book with you. if you fail, your an idiot... if you pass it proves nothing... (not attacking you, just saying in general). why would someone go to a trainer who's body they would not want to have or want their mate to have. hey mr. trainer, how come i am 60lbs heavier and i dont have a gut??? are you bulking? for life? your up to what?180 now? 15% fat... way to go man.

Hey bomber and bros: I am a certified P.T. and I know what you guys are talking about... I worked with a few slobs at my old gym. I got certified as a personal trainer through a college program offered as an elective in my major. I majored in Sports Med. I was told by one of the other trainers that they don't like their clients to make progress. They break them down on the machines, so they feel as if they are getting stronger/lighter/thinner/etc. The trick is to keep them coming back. If they made progress they would not need a personal trainer anymore. Pretty Fucked up, huh? Also, I did not practice this particular method for retaining clients. I wanted people to advance past their goals, and recommend my services to friends, family, etc. ------------------

Paying a fatass to train you is like buying clothes from a person who does'nt match.

I agree most trainers are poor examples of anything health related, very few know their shit. ------------------

ya, thats what i want... a trainer to take my money and keep me coming back cuz i stay stagnant. funny shit. gotta say this though, if your stupid enough to go back to a trainer like this you deserve to lose your money.. but this is terrible. the one trainer at my gym went joggin, had his shirt off cuz its like 100 every day now. came back in soaked, no shirt... and a fuckin beer gut from hell... i ccould handle it if he was just bulking... but he is a weak little pussy bitch. ex football player training women with football player exercises and techniques...

Well here's one for you - At my gym (pansy-ass) there was this guy who seemed very knowledgeable when he first came on. Olympic hopeful, ranked 5th in the state or whatever in kick-boxing - or taekwondoe (sp), endorsed by Adidas, seemingly funny guy, right? WRONG!!! Long story short - never made it to the floor - TWICE! He AIN'T AT NO OLYMPICS - Roid-raging to the max (little guy - 5 ft maybe) HUGE legs, and gut, girly arms - woman hater, wife-cheating, slimy-ass, miniscule, Napoleon complexed-LOSER! (no hostility here) Now why the hostility? When I made the commitment to try to compete - I bulked up. A LOT of people made fun of me behind my back - some tried to mess w/me to my face - It was really tough for a chick like me to go far being small and hard to bulked up and trying to grow. Well this ignoramous trainer was THE FIRST one to try and cut me down. Instead of trying to help me out (not that I needed HIS help - I got PLENTY of competent advice at a REAL gym) he constantly talked about how "there is no such thing as bulking up ....you do not need to gain weight to build mass ...she's just getting fat, plain and simple" to any and EVERY female client or female PERIOD that was within a 50 foot distance of him and he would always spew his garbage JUST loud enough for me to hear. That little FUCKER! Well, when I started to lean and competed everyone - even the guys in my gym were like, "What supplements you takin'?" "What are you eating these days?" and "Damn, you look really good!" And of course, the second place trophy was like the icing on the cake.....true second place was not first, but hey, AT LEAST I MADE IT TO THE FLOOR. And that little rat got fired from the gym where I primarily train because he in the midst of a roid rage tried to excuse his "cromagnon behaviour" by ADMITTING to juicing!!!! Can you believe that?! What kind of a dumb-ass would actually be retarded enough to try to excuse reprensible behaviour to his employer in front of other staff and members that he finds it difficult to control himself because of roid rage?! So now he is at this other gym where I train on occasion and he just runs to the other corner...FAST. That little bitch!!! PS He also "dealt", but from the looks of his "customers" he was keepin the real stuff for himself and dealing shit to pay for his own supply.

guess i,m lucky, we have a few personal trainers here in plano that look un fit, but we have 2 that are good and 1 that competed in arlington and took 2nd place in teenage and one that is competeing this May and they both look pretty fit. But yes we do have our share of trainers in plano that really need to get in shape better.

PT's do that on purpose, so their customers keep coming back. Sucks!!!!

As a trainer I agree that alot of the trainers do not practice what they preach. BUT there are guys and gals who know what there talking about even if there not 200 ripped to the bone.I myself realize more and more that looks are important.I am not fat but am not ripped either.(am getting there)So cut the good trainers some slack.Maybe it's worse down in the states than in Canada.

Theres this one guy that looks like decraprio and I really hate that guy. he walks around the gym talking but when he is training someone he ignores them and he just turns his back on them and sucks as a P.T. I hate that. I want to be a P.t. in hopefully about a year and a half and I guess it just makes me mad. ------------------

How do you become a personal trainer? It would be nice to have profession if the computer business ever goes sour!
Pro Bodybuilder Posts: 521 |
how do you become one? well, you pay for it. go to www.afaa.com or www.ace.com shit, there are tons of em. you can get a list of when the test dates are.. its a weekend "seminar". you take the test sunday. you pay about 400 bucks for it... you pay for a class that you learn nothing in.

There's this trainer at my gym who is like 5'2" and couldn't weigh more than 120lbs (yes, a guy). WTF is up with that? He actually has clients too. Must be those ripped legs he's showing off with the spandex shorts always (lol). -Warik

Just because you look good does not mean you are a good PT. You need to be able to teach and relay the knowledge you possess to your client. Yes you may be alittle over weight and still be a damn good PT. Not evryone wants to be massive. In choosing a PT you need to find someone who will listen to, and react to your personal goals.

I agree that often impressive looking trainers are worthless. In addition to having to be a good teacher you have to know how to customize workouts to the trainee. There is this one pt where I work out who has never gained a single ounce of muscle in his whole life without juice. All his clients are natural (or they at least appear to be) and since he has absolutely no idea how to gain muscle without juice he has absolutely no idea how to train people who aren't taking it. I think if you are natural it's best to get a trainer who knows how to train you natural. A guy like Charles Glass (or a less expensive local version) or someone of his type with competition/steroid knowledge is best for someone who is looking to compete and get really huge. If you are taking steroids for your own benefit (not to become a big-time competitor) you better already know enough to train yourself so you shouldn't need a pt. You shouldn't start steroids when you're still a novice.

there are a few trainers in my gym who work out while there clients are doing sets!! the clients are doing everything all wrong first off..when one of the trainers does lat pulldown she starts perpendicular with the bench she is sitting on and ends up parallel. and she does the same excersizes everyday...its really funny ------------------ |
