Backdatthangup's IP addy is 24.112.158.234 This means he is on a Class A TCP/IP network, All the other features of TCP/IP network can be easily identified. Even using dynamic IP addressing (a DHCP server), it is easy to locate you. When I feel like it, I will find you and post your address. Matt | ||

It is really very easy to trace people over TCP/IP. Dynamic IP addressing doesn't really do anything to hide you. There are many programs one can run to find users even with a dynamically assigned IP address. As long as a user is on the Internet, I can find you. Just so you know. Matt | ||

Caesar, You've got mail. Others: There are no "ghost" IP addresses. There are dynamic ones, but there are records of which iones were in use by whom, at what time. There are electronic footprints every time you log on to the Net. There are some legal protections against using your info to locate you, but with the right legal justification, you are not hiding from anyone. For your own protection. Matt | ||

Matt, I guess I should have let you know that I am familiar with the process. Of course, going through the ISP will give you every bit of information you could possibly want on someone, but as you stated, there are legal steps to take. I was under the impression that you could use my IP address (which I thought you had acess to) to find out information on me while I was online. Tracert works, but the best it can do is give the city in which the ISP is in and if there is a firewall in place, you probably won't even get that. | ||
