Your picks will have an impact for their respective teams; however, I think that Chris Samuels (Redskins) will have the best season... ------------------ IP: Logged |

Warrick. His ability to run after the catch affords him the luxury of not having to rely on a good quarterback. I think Courtney Brown will have an impact. He reminds me of Andre Wadsworth from a couple of years ago. It may take Arrington time to fit into the Redskins system. Although all of the runningbacks have good potential, I'm not sure if I see superstar written on any of them. Then again, I said the same thing about Edgerrin James a year ago. IP: Logged |

The two postitions that can really turn a team around in their rookie years are running back and wide receiver. Other impact positions like QB, CB, and others take time to develop to an NFL level of dominance. With that in mind I pick Warren with Dayne a close second. ron dayne will go down in history with andre ware and ryan leif, but if you like big bruising running backs, look out for pittsburgh steeler chris ma'afaala from utah, second year man, at 270 he ran the 40 in 4.3, now hes trimmed down and looks like hes gonna open some eyes IP: Logged |

I wouldn't be surprised if Jamal Lewis puts up better numbers than Dayne. I just don't see Dayne plowing over people like he did in College. I like them both though so it will be interesting to watch them develop. IP: Logged |

I'm a big FSU fan, but you guys are silly to think Warrick will tear up the league. Warrick does not have lightning speed - he can't outrun DB's like he could in college. He also doesn't have that super after the catch acceleration like Jerry Rice. (The only player I ever saw catch Rice from behind was Darrell Green, and he catches everyone.) DB's in the pros are not the college DBs Warrick beat up on. Not only that, but Warrick plasyed in the ACC - not exactly a football powerhouse. Lastly, who will be throwing Warrick the ball? The Redskinds made some nice additions, but won;t be able to beat Tampa Bay in the NFC. Bruce Smith needs to hang it up. LaVar Arrington has all the tools, but then again, the bus station is full of guys with all the tools. Right, Lawrence Philips? A guy to watch: Trung Canidate, drafted by St Louis in the first round - last player taken in the 1st round. Hw was the fastest player at the combine (NOT Lavernaeus Coles - Coles ran that 4.16 at FSU with a coach holding a stopwatch) - where they measure players' speed with an electronic timer like at track meets. St Louis proved last year that speed kills - kills opponents - and Canidate fits right in. He'll have a chance to rack up big numbers in that league. Ron Dayne will have the chance to be the top Rookie - he'll get the carries, and if he gets the yards - he'll win the award. I'm a Giants fan so you know who I'm rooting for. Matt IP: Logged |

Canidate is fast, but he will be hard pressed for playing time beyond special teams unless Marshall Faulk gets hurt. Warrick has that one extra move that he makes right at the point of contact that puts defenders in a poor tackling position. I have seen very few runners with that abilty...Barry Sanders, Rice, maybe Warrick Dunn. IP: Logged |

Thick Dog, True that St Louis has many weapons, but if Canidate can prove to be effective catching passes out of the backfield, (like Faulk does) then he will get time. Unquestionably he's a dark horse pick. But I think if he has his head on straight he wil surprise a lot of people. I think Dayne will be solid - not a superstar, but solid. Ricky Williams - the ex-NCAA record holder, had a fumbling problem even at Texas A&M. Dayne has shown to be durable (that guy carried 40 times a game at Wisconsin) and he won't have to carry like that in the pros - no one can carry like that in the NFL. And Dayne builds up some momentum with his 260lbs. I know what you mean about warrick's move. He seems to freeze the defender without really slowing down. But I think he'll be somewhat disappointing. BROWN ALL THE WAY!!!! warrick is gonna struggle for a little while cuz he is now cinci's ONLY outside threat with darnay gone... if scott was not hurt then warrick would fucking kill people. dont get me wrong, he will make dillon think twice about only signing for one year. at least till dillon sees the defense perform, or shall we say... stand there and watch people go through them, by them and over them. Dayne will be interesting. I normally don't like big backs. They have a couple of good years then that's it. He seems like a hard worker, though. I think Jamal Lewis has the most potential of the runners, but the knee problems can be scary. I saw a lot of Thomas Jones in college and I think he is definately gifted, but hell, he wasn't anymore spectacular than Tiki Barber at UV. Another sleeper is RJAY Soward of Jax, if he can keep his head on straight. He's scary in the open field, but maybe too small for the NFL. Plus, with McCardell and Jimmy Smith, he will be a slot reciever. IP: Logged |

the only playing time candidate will get will be only if Faulk gets hurt or if they are winning or losing by 30 points. ------------------ IP: Logged |

yea right havent you watched preseason ? dayne has been rushin for 3 yds per carry , he had 17 carries both games and hasnt toped 80 yards and against 2nd and 3rd string defenses, i think samuels will fit in good with the redskins, also tight end anthony becht out of west virginia playing for the jets is a sleeper as a rookie IP: Logged |

at one time, i would have predicted jamal lewis. but after the injury, you could tell it affected his head too because he ran alot more timidly...not over people like he once did. dayne won't run over the pros like he did in college, so i'll say warrick will win it. he'll be a do-it-all type player...someone who will put up big numbers and draw crowds. BTW, Matt The Skywalker, Ricky Williams set the record at Texas, not Texas A&M. IP: Logged |

yea there is a BIG difference between A&M and UT, UT= good football team, much better city, better looking girls A&M= shitty football team, which by the way, (I won 300$ betting against), located in a shithole of a town, girls are rednecks and fat. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Gotta be Brown or Arrington.Warrick has some tools to be a real good wideout but come on.....he's not in the same class as Brown and Arrington and he's in Cincinatti with the worst coach in the NFL,hands down. I love Dayne, but he's no major impact player. Brown and Arrington are freaks. Both are dominating players. BTW,Cincy signed Dillon, that gives em Smith,Dillon,Warrick and Scott on offense...not bad.HAHAHA,they still got Coslet though..hehe. IP: Logged |

To all Aggies: Deeply regret mentioning Ricky Williams as one of you. I know damn well he played for Texas, and I realize the gravity of my error. I must have had a brain fart. I apologize again. I understand the differences. I'm not going to use my super-duper mod powers to edit/delete my way out of this one either. Please forgive. Matt IP: Logged |
