I can't stand it when people say they just want to tone. Tone is a mean nothing term. You can only lose/gain muscle and fat. What the fuck is tone? Thats something Suzanne Sommers brought about.

Being a personal trainer on the side, you have to watch the words you use to certain individuals, women dont want to hear gain, mass, size, strength, they want to hear tone, lean and shape, I believe to tone and shape are somewhat similar.

There is a doctor in LA that came up with a theory that being fat is actually a virous...ok i guess im the asshole here..cuz every other virus we know of is a flesh eating virus, the common cold, Aids, cancer..but hes found the one that make you bigger...yah yah yah..thats all we need, every fat person in our family at thanksgiving going...*chew* *chew* no im not really overeating *chew**chew* im just trying to keep the virus at bay....crap

Toning is definitely is woman's term. Average girls do not like to hear that they need to lift weights and put muscle on in order to look 'tone' - thinking that lifting heavy weights will lead to packing on the hard muscle and make us manly looking. Many girls like the looks of muscle and definition but they do not want to have the 'beefy' and ripped look. If they are given the proper guidance most will take to lifting weights and will find that it does not mean that they need to become masculine looking. Before I got into weight lifting I though I wanted to be 'tone' also - for me it meant a medium point between being flat and being a body building type. Now I know better and enjoy lifting weight as much as the next person!
