I was kind of holding my support for Bush until I saw him last night. I was never, ever going to cote for Gore as he is about the biggest fake on the scene and a career politician. I have to say that I respect the work Bush has done as governor of Texas. My wife is a school teacher and she has gotten significant raises every year for the past three years. His speech was on the money and regardless of what the pundits say, the republican party is more inclusive now. I think minorities can flex their political muscles more by voting Republican. In recent years it seems like the Democrats don't do anything for minorities because they know that their getting the vote no matter what they do. In the past republicans didn't reach out to minorities either because they knew that it was almost impossible no matter what they did to get minority votes. I just don't see how anyone can vote Democratic. I don't know anyone that is in favor of large sweeping government programs. I don't know why people are against keeping more of their check rather than giving it to the government and letting them choose how to spend your money. Yes, Bush was an alcoholic and even probably did drugs, but damn..in this age who hasn't. He has good character and is from an honorable family. The only thing that I don't like about him is that I wish he would have served an active role in Vietnam. But he's got my vote. Sorry if this is off topic, but I wanted to share my thoughts. I'm calling bullshit on the Bush vote. I also respect the work he's done in Texas. But look at last nights speech...pure rhetoric and not ONE detail on how to achieve his ideas. Gore is a career politician but Bush is using the oldest politician sceem ever, he's quick to point out what is wrong and doesn't say shit about how to change it. As big a prick as Clinton is at least in his speeches he spelled out exactly what he wanted to do, a political checklist if you will. I love any politician who does this. It gives us a way to hold them accountable. I know Gore is kind of a boring flake but he really understands Washington and he's proven as vp and as a senator he can get things done. I think he'll keep the country on the track it's on right now which I'm mostly happy with. I'm waiting to see Gore's proposal for the armed forces because it has been cut down way way to far. Plus the Gore daughters are naughty honey's. Just my opinion. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Slabcat, What has Clinton done for the past eight years? I can't think of anything. He might have spelled things out, but he didn't do anything. That is why Bush pointed out that Clinton/Gore had all the ability and opportunity to make things happen, but they squandered it because they are just so damn political. I respect your opinion though. The economy has been doing very well, but was it from the Clinton admin, or really was it the Bush admin before him? That's a good question. Also while we might be happy with the economy, could we not be doing better if our taxes were cut. I get reamed for 3k plus every year. I'm fucking tired of that. I think we all know that Clinton/Gore will say absolutely anything to get elected, even boldface lies. They believe they are smarter than us and basically treat us like fucking idiots. They got over on us for the last eight years. Time for a change. IP: Logged |

moedank, stop being a dumbass. If you knew anything on the matter, you would know the Gore family is tied up in more of an estate than the Bush family ever is, was, or has been. To the 3rd power. It's been that way for a long time too. A very long time. Their money is old family money, coincidentally back from the slave times. You could even argue Gore's ancestors made their family fortune off of a slaves back. Literally. Gore's father has been grooming him to become president with his $$ since the day he was born. Also, Gore's family $ is so tied up in oil nowadays it's not even funny. And he wants to claim he will give in to the call of the electric are. But he did "make the internet happen!" slabcat, another moron on the issue, but at least not so bad. That's a compliment coming from me. If you actually heard the entire speech, and not just a few newsclips like we all know you did, then you might have a clue. You would have also had heard Bush smack Gore better than Gary Payton smacks his neighborhood rival on a hot Sunday afternoon. Bush is a falking stud. Plus he lifts weights, free weights, 5 times a week in addition to running daily. And we're not talking a Clinton chessburger run either. He's a workout mofo. Gore's a spoiled pussy, born with a silver spoon in his mouth. On 'achieving ideas,' none of these front men ever really get a thing done. They are front men puppets and not much else. And then one day you might realize the distinction between demos' and repubs' is that but a fleeing emotion in a stance you want to take that will never be resolved by one man. It is embarrassing that people look to one man to make things better. Choose the cooler cat, that's in much better shape. Vote Bush and who gives a shit about a Dick. How can you not vote Bush and Dick? IP: Logged |

Who Said It? ALgORE or The UNABOMBER 1. "In the speech in which I declared my candidacy, I focused on global warming, ozone depletion and the ailing global environment and declared that these issues - along with nuclear arms control - would be the principal focus of my campaign." 2. "No one knows what will happen as a result of ozone depletion, the greenhouse effect and other environmental problems that cannot yet be foreseen. And, as nuclear proliferation has shown, new technology cannot be kept out of the hands of dictators and irresponsible Third World leaders." 3. "Artificial needs have been created. ... Advertising and marketing techniques have been developed that make many people feel they need things that their grandparents never desired or even dreamed of. ... It seems for many people, maybe the majority, these artificial forms ... are insufficient. A theme that appears repeatedly in the writings of the social critics of the second half of the 20th century is the sense of purposelessness that afflicts many people in modern society." 4. "Whenever any technology is used to mediate our experience of the world, we gain power but we also lose something in the process. The increased productivity of assembly lines in factories, for examples, requires many employees to repeat the identical task over and over until they lose any feeling of connection to the creative process - and with it their sense of purpose." 5. "Like the Sorcerer's Apprentice, who learned how to command inanimate objects to serve his whims, we too have set in motion forces more powerful than we anticipated and that are harder to stop than start." 6. "Technological progress marches in only one direction. It can never be reversed. Once a technological innovation has been introduced, people usually become dependent on it, so that they can never again do without it, unless it is replaced by some still more advanced innovation." 7. "'Oh,' say the technophiles, 'Science is going to fix all that!' We will conquer famine, eliminate psychological suffering, make everybody healthy and happy!" 8. "Some argue that a new ultimate technology, whether nuclear energy or genetic engineering, will solve the problem. ... We have also fallen victim to a kind of technological hubris, which tempts us to believe that our new powers may be unlimited. We dare to imagine that we will find technological solutions for every technologically induced problem. ... Technological hubris tempts us to lose sight of our place in the natural order and believe that we can achieve whatever we want." 9. "Very widespread in modern society is the search for 'fulfillment.' ... (Yet) for the majority of people whose main goal is fulfillment, (technology) does not bring completely satisfactory fulfillment." 10. "Industrial civilization's great engines of distraction still seduce us with a promise of fulfillment. Our new power to work our will upon the world can bring with it a sudden rush of exhilaration. ... But that exhilaration is fleeting. It is not true fulfillment." This quiz is based on a column by Tony Snow for the Detroit News (1)Correct answer was: Algore Kinda scary... IP: Logged |

Misadventures of Spotted Al Gore The stories you're about to hear are true. The names have not been changed to expose the stupid. ''Why should we believe that you will tell the truth as president if you don't tell the truth as a candidate?'' January 17, 1993: In a tour of Monticello, Gore asks about a row of busts, "Who are these people?" According to The New York Times, the curator "helpfully identified the unfamiliar faces. "This is George Washington on the extreme right... with Benjamin Franklin close behind." October 28, 1994: In Virginia, Gore attacks Oliver North's Senate bid supporters as "the extreme right wing, the extra chromosome right wing." Advocates for those with Down's Syndrome, caused by an extra chromosome, were outraged. November 28, 1994: The New Yorker quotes from letters Gore sent his father in the '60s saying anti-communism was a "form of psychological ailment -- in this case a national madness," leading the U.S. into "supporting fascist totalitarian regimes in the name of fighting totalitarianism...For me the best example of all is the U.S. Army." August 28, 1996: The Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Gore makes a moving speech about his sister's death in 1984 from cancer which, he claims, spurred him to wage war on the tobacco industry. However, while running for president in 1988, Gore told an audience of tobacco farmers, "I want you to know that with my own hands, all of my life, I put it in the plant beds and transferred it. I've hoed it. I've dug in it. I've sprayed it, I've chopped it, I've shredded it, spiked it, put it in the barn and stripped it and sold it." He also received thousands of dollars in PAC money from tobacco companies after the death of his sister in 1984 and accepted federal subsidies for the tobacco grown on his farm. December 1997: Gore tells Time's Karen Tumulty that he and Tipper were the inspiration for Erich Segal's novel 'Love Story.' Erich Segal has disputed that claim. December 22, 1997: The Washington Times notes Gore claimed "2,000 years ago a homeless woman gave birth to a homeless child in a manger." He was referring to Joseph and Mary who were traveling, not homeless. June 15, 1998: Gore tells Chicago Bull fans: "That Michael Jackson is unbelievable, isn't he?" (That's Michael Jordan.) October 1, 1998: The Times of London reports that Gore told rock star Courtney Love at a Hollywood party "I'm a really big fan," but when she snapped "Yeah right, name a song, Al," he said, "I can't name a song." Courtney told the story to David Letterman. (view video clip) October 12, 1998: Gore stumps for Democrats in Minnesota, saying, "They will be the education team that Missouri needs." (Uh, Spotted, that's Minnesota.) December 19, 1998: After the House impeached Clinton, Spotted Al lead a rally on the White House lawn where he told the audience that Clinton was "a man I believe will be regarded in the history books as one of our greatest presidents." (view video clip) March 9, 1999: On CNN's Late Edition, Gore claims: "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet." President Clinton, trying to cover for Spotted Al, said that he had done so much for the internet that he deserved to take credit for inventing it! (view video clip) April 6, 1999: You would think the 'Father of the Internet' would be up on the federal laws that govern it. Vice President Al Gore tries to launch a campaign web site with a page asking children for their names, e-mail addresses and zip codes -- a direct violation of a new federal law passed by Congress last year and signed by his buddy, President Bill Clinton. May 6, 1999: Al Gore claims during an Internet security photo-op that tools developed to help parents protect children from obscene web sites first originated with him in the Roosevelt Room of the White House. But some involved with the development of such computer programs as "one click" say the credit goes to the industry and congressional leaders, not Gore. June 16, 1999: "Halfway through this century,'' Gore said, in declaring his candidacy, ''when my father saw that thousands of his fellow Tennesseans were forced to obey Jim Crow laws, he knew America could do better. He saw a horizon in which his black and white constituents shared the same hopes in the same world.'' It was a moving tribute, but with a notable omission: The elder Gore voted against the landmark civil rights legislation of his time, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which repudiated the Jim Crow laws. Boston Globe, 4/11/00 July 22, 1999: The Washington Times reports that New Hampshire utility officials were asked by the Secret Service and a river commission to release four billion gallons of water to make sure presidential candidate Al Gore's canoe floated during a photo opportunity. This was confirmed by the head of the Vermont Department of Natural Resources. The Gore campaign denied the allegation. Just after the canoe trip, Gore made a campaign speech where he talked about the environment. August 17, 1999: The General Accounting Office says Vice President Al Gore has overstated cost savings for his "reinventing government" project. Auditors looking at reforms in three agencies say the project claimed almost 22 billion dollars in savings. But, the auditors report there is no evidence to support such savings. They also say savings were inflated by double-counting cost cuts, and that credit was taken for savings that may have been the result of other efforts to streamline government. October 21, 1999: The Nashville Scene compiled a list of quotes from Spotted Al on his tour of duty in Vietnam. Keep in mind that he was a newspaper reporter and never saw any action. * "I took my turn regularly on the perimeter in these little firebases out in the boonies. * "I was shot at. I spent most of my time in the field."--Gore to the Washington Post * "I carried an M-16. I pulled my turn on the perimeter at night and walked through the * "I used to fly these things with the doors open, sitting on the ledge with our feet October 31, 1999: During a Q&A, Spotted Al brought up the name of ex-Senator Barry Goldwater. "He's a great, wonderful guy," Gore said. "I didn't agree with his philosophy, although I'm agreeing with it more and more, as he November, 1999: In a Time Magazine interview, Spotted Al commented on opponent Bill Bradley's idea to expand the Earned Income Tax Credit. "I was the author of that proposal. I wrote that, so I say, welcome aboard. That is something for which I have been the principal proponent for a long time." The problem is, the EITC became law in 1975, a year before Al was even elected to Congress. December 3, 1999: While campaigning in New Hampshire, Spotted Al said the following: "I found a little place in upstate New York called Love Canal. I had the first hearing on that issue," Gore told a New Hampshire high school audience. "I was the one who started it all." Spot's congressional hearing was long after the place had been evacuated by the federal government. It had been a national story since before the evacuation. December 14, 1999: Al was asked by a member of a town hall meeting in Derry, New Hampshire what he thought about the rape allegation against Bill Clinton made by Juanita Broaddrick. He said, "I think that whatever mistakes he made in his personal life are, in the minds of most Americans, balanced against what he has done in his life as President." In other words, rape is OK as long as you're a good president. December 27, 1999: In a story reported by the Washington Post, Gore claimed that he contributed important lines to Hubert Humphreys acceptance speech at the 1968 Democratic convention. Young Gore later often told the story . . . [A]s [he] sat in the convention hall and looked up at Humphrey in the spotlight, he thought he heard his own words coming back to him, the paper said. When Gores supposed conduit to Humphrey denied the influence, Gore blamed his recollection on Faulty memory. Faulty memory. January 3, 2000: CBS Radio reported that the Y2K bug was virtually nonexistent when the new year clicked over. One of the few problems was on the site of the man who claimed to invent the Internet. Spotted Al's campaign web site welcomed visitors to 'January 1, 19100'. February 4, 2000: The New York Times quoted Spotted Al as saying, We had a huge event with 3,000 people at Ohio State University. The paper went on to say that officials at that rally said the room where it had taken March 7, 2000: Spotted Al, in Nashville for his victory celebration, had no idea that his own state wasn't voting in Super Tuesday when he urged a fellow Tennessean to get out and vote. As reported by the Associated Press "while two dozen reporters and camera operators watched from the lobby of his Nashville headquarters on Tuesday, he (Gore) called a ``Miss Ferris'' and told her, ``Today is the presidential primary in Tennessee.'' His expression changed as he listened to her. ``Well, you know, that is right. You are absolutely right,'' he said before hanging up and quickly dialing the next number on his voter call list." March 31, 2000: The Augusta, Georgia Chronicle reports that "Al Gore can't seem to help but take credit for programs that aren't his. This time, however, the vice president has stepped on the toes of U.S. Sen. Paul Coverdell, R-Ga, and the good senator is not going to let him get away with it. What riles our state's senior senator is Gore's claim that he authored the Reading Excellence Act. Along with U.S. Rep. William Goodling, R-Pa., Coverdell actually wrote and introduced that legislation in 1998." IP: Logged |

In all seriousness, folks, if YOU were born into the kind of wealth and privelege that GWB was born into, don't you think you'd have more to show for it than his thin little resume? Don't you really? The only reason guys like any of you would support someone like Bush is some unconscious thought that your support will make you into someone like him, namely fat, wealthy, Republican, priveleged. Well guess what, buddies, these right wing plutocrats (look it up!) are counting on that kind of reaction, and they're laughing at you, you poor suckers, all the way to the White House. Ah, fuck you all. I don't know why I waste my breath and dipshits lame enough to vote Republican. You're hopeless! Fuck you, and fuck Bush and all fatass Republican bastards. Hey juice boy you can't think of one thing Clinton did in 8 years? He helped clarify the meaning of the word "is". IP: Logged |

Did somebody say what has clinton/gore done in the past 8 years?I dont think we even have to tell you all the great things cause it would take to long to write.Simply put Gore may be a bore but to me this is not a personality race.I dont think anyone can say that Bush has half the brains that Gore has. Vanguard: Gore never said he invented the Internet. He said that he sponsored legislation that helped allow the Internet to be created. Isn't that a *good* thing? IP: Logged |

Thanks special_bill and vangaurd. Hey Bjaarki, WTF is your problem? Upset 'cause you couldn't think of a better name? I got mine from these girls at my bro's wedding because of how good I made that tux look. Your jealousy's showing bad. Anyways, the reason I posted what I did is because some of these people needed a real lesson about Al Gore. I'm from Tennessee and I'll be really surprised if he wins this state. The Guy walks around spewing some really stupid and scary stuff. I'm not saying Bush is better, but he sure as hell isn't worse. Nor does he come up lacking in any other quality when you compare the two. If it were an option, I'd probably vote for Jesse Ventura. But it's not. And where it matters to me, Bush is the better of the two choices. -Bush will allow me to invest part of my social security (that means, in 30 some years, when I go to retire, I will have atleast some social security coming to me) Al Gore won't give me that option. -Bush supports reponsible use of the outdoors, which means ALOT to me as a Jeep owner (unlike Al Gore who would rather just listen to the asinine member of the Sierra Club in exchange for political support/money). -Bush isn't trying to take 30% of my money each year just so he can walk around talking about how rich the Federal Government is right now. Al Gore is more interested in keepin his pockets fat with my money. -I agree with Bush's stance on schools, teacher's salaries and prison sentences. -The news media show's a bias towards Al Gore. That scares me when you consider that they are big business and what their morals are. My final point: If you don't like it, go flap your trap on one of those anti-Bush, pro-infidelity, pro-drug dealer posts. See you at the polls. IP: Logged |

partial privatization of social security is a damn interesting proposal...hey moe, you being a trader and all, you gotta eat that shit up...you will get to invest some of the money you would have paid in taxes...the latest surveys show that T-bills pay a hell of a lot more than the miniscule interest you collect while your money sits in the gov't cesspool...think about it... ------------------ IP: Logged |

Wake up everybody!!!! When the Federal Government and State Government takes 60% of our income as income, excise, gas, sales, and every other fucking lame excuse as a tax. It is TIME FOR A CHANGE! How much of your paycheck do have left to spend? I buy a lot over the net due to the lack of a sales tax and it just makes my blood boil that these vultures in our Republic just keep wanting more and more. When I first filed a 1040 in 1976, the tax rate was for what income level I am at now was 16%. Mine is now at around 40%. Thats just personal income! I don't mind paying reasonable taxes, but the shit my $ is going to blows my mind! A fucking surplus exists? Give me back my $ I've paid too much. Common sense in Government does not exist. Just leave me alone to work hard for my family and let me keep the $ I sweat and toil for- It's enough to make an average guy want to grow dope and keep the $ underground. I realize that this rant has nothing to do with Gore or Bush, but I had to vent tonight... ------------------ IP: Logged |
