No doubt it is Carlos Delgado, and if any of you disagree I simply can put up his stats to prove it. IP: Logged |

Carlos Delgado is getting better and better every game at his position fielding wise. He only has 2 more error's then A-Rod and has less then Jeter. He is the best hitter in the game today without a doubt. Here is his AL stats-- batting average - 2, Runs - 2 hits - 2, doubles - 1 home runs - 1, RBI's - 3 walks - 2, on base % - 1 slugging % - 1 The only catergories he is not in are triples and stolen bases, and strikeouts which is good not to be in. Pedro Martinez is in a class by himself. He'll be collecting another Cy Young this year as Wells falters down the stretch. Offensively, Delgado and Guerrero are having huge years, but they need to prove they can do it year after year to be among the elite. IOver the last three years, no one has matched Sammy Sosa's numbers (and I hate the Cubs). His homer and RBI totals have been outrageous, and his average well above .300. He's hitting .320 right now, and has been heating up. If I were starting a team though, the first position player I would take would be A-Rod. Matt IP: Logged |

Jones is a good player but ny no means in the top 5 or even 10. I like him and he is my favorite player but he's just good. Ivan rodriguez is a phenom and we will not see a player of his calliber for a LONG time to come. He got to his first allstar game as a rookie and for a 24 year old catcher that is a big accomplishment. Now when most catchers are just hittng thier prime at 28 or so he already is established. He is simply the greatest catcher tha game has ever seen and since catcher is the most demanding position on the field (that cannot even be argued who else is involved in everyplay and controls the game besides the pitcher and they don't wear big pads in the heat). He changes the face of the game, he intimidates with both the glove and bat. If you ever see iterviews with other players they all rave about him. I predict once he gets better he'll pull off 3-4 more MVP seasons and win the gold glove every year for the next 7-10 years. IP: Logged |

Ivan Rodriquez has improved every year since has been in the league. He was on pace for some incredible numbers this year. Too bad he got hurt. I hope he makes a full recovery. He will probably go down as the best catcher of all time, although Mike Piazza is unquestionably the best hitting catcher ever. IP: Logged |

I would not agree with that. Piazza is in the top 3 hitting catchers but not unquestionably the best...It piazza, Pudge, and Harmen Killabrew in the top 3 IP: Logged |

I agree romeo but A-rod is still a question mark..he doesn't stay healthy long and he only has 26HR so far this year. Number 3 is up for debate but 1 and 2 are set i think IP: Logged |

Killebrew was not a cathcer. The best catcher ever remains Johnny Bench. Yes, Rodriguez may end his career with significantly more accomplishments than Bench. Piazza may do so also - looks like Mike Piazza will be NL MVP this year. Rodriguez getting MVP over Pedro last year was a joke and everyone knows it. Neither Pudge nor Piazza has done, for a career, what Bench did. When one of them does, they will supplant Bench as the best of all time. Matt IP: Logged |

Pedro Martinez. Enough said. The boy wins games by himself and loses them cause his team doesn't knock in runs, with the exception of Everett and Garciapara. If your staring a team pick Pedro first. My boy started a fantasy team and while all the other gm's were gettin mcgwire, jr, etc. He drafted Pedro. And his team leads the league in fantasy points. Best home run hitter. Gary Sheffield. The guy has cannons for arms. Ever see him miss a pitch when he swings? He almost falls down cause he always swings for the fences. ------------------ IP: Logged |

If you're gonna go that route, I met Trenidad Hubbard who just got traded from the Braves to Baltimore and he's diesel but far from a great player. He's packing at least 20" guns. [This message has been edited by The Whole F/N Show (edited August 04, 2000).] IP: Logged |

Killebrew was an outfielder for the Senators in the 50's and 60's. I would say Pudge is the best everyday player because of the position he plays, Pedro the best pitcher, and Palmeiro the most underrated(got to give a shout out to another cuban). IP: Logged |

Being a NYer I am a Mets fan. It's been kind of tough watching the Yanks win 3 of 4, but although I hate him, Steinbrenner does what it takes to win. This year, while they struggled, he got Justice and Neagle and they are doing well.... As for my Mets, Piazza may well be MVP this year, and they could make the playoffs - but Atlanta has been there every fucking year......and good pitching beats good hitting..... The Mets went 8-1 on a recent homestand, which is of course encouraging.....I also like - or admire - the Oakland A's and their front office - the wya they develop talent from within - this is not a new phenomenon - they had 3 consecutive Rookies of the Year (86-88) - good to see a team without Steinbrenner money in contention. I think his other loss was when he had that oblique problem too. They say he holds onto the ball longer, cause hes got blisters on the tip of his fingers while regular pitches have the at the bottom of their fingers. That and all his pitches are thrown at the same speed so the batter never knows what hes gettin. I'm still shocked hes never pitched a no hitter. He will one day and we'll be called the best of all time after he does that and the Bo-Sox win a World Series. IP: Logged |
