i wish you the best....i have put more pits to sleep than any other breed...we can't even legally adopt them out...most places won't give you homeowners if they know about the dog....i really like them (and boxers)...however, i have had several professional handlers and obedience trial directors tell me that there is an innate aggresion built in, and it can be very hard to control... ------------------ IP: Logged |

Actually, special bill, if you research dog bites, most vicious bites come from small dogs (chitzus were the worst I think), and german shepards even have a higher rate of viciousness than pitbulls. I remember reading an extensive study, I'll try to find it. The reason pit bulls have such a bad name is because back when they became popular (early 80s) they were used as fighting dogs. The demand was so high that a lot of them were inbreed to meet demands. Inbreed dogs had mental problems and were prone to snap. A well raised pit bull is just as good a pet as any other well raised animal. I would name her Sado. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I'm not into lecturing anyone but i do think Pitbulls do have an "innate aggresive nature", i speak from personal advise, A couple years back my best friend had two pitbulls, they were great dogs, they were extremely friendly and loyal dogs. I believed that the dogs personality had everything to do with the way they were brought up and that they were products of they're environment. They would often sleep in his bed with him and lick our faces. They were not unlike any other dog. Until one day both dogs got out of the house and ran away, The dogs ended up a mile away at a horse farm. The dogs mutalated this horse into nothing, One locked onto the horses neck while the other ripped apart the horses insides. They ripped this horse into pieces all over the owners land. These dogs werent' protecting they're owner, they weren't protecting they're land, rather they were attacking another animal for no reason at all. After they found what was left of the horse, they located the dogs miles away. They dogs were both shot multiple times, one died instantly while another got away. they found the other dog and blew him away with shot guns. This was especially sad for my friend who spent much of his teenage years caring for his two dogs, To add insult to injury my friends family was suid and fined for the actions of they're animals. Lacking any type of insurance that coved such items, they were forced to move due to lack of funds. They were also mortafied by the newspapers articles about them. I liked his dogs alot and felt horrible about what happened to him and his family, but i don't think this would have occured if he had two hotdog dogs instead. just a though, your responcible for two animals and are legally responcible for they're actions, keep that in mind IP: Logged |

That is called a "pack mentality" I learned that when i was bitten on the legs while riding my bike by two labs and some mutt dog. I was like 8 so it was a pretty fucked up thing to have happen. I hate fucking dogs, but a pit is just like you said, like no other dog. IP: Logged |

first a name, then a story.... ANGEL- people would be like "what the fuck"?? story time... i was in the hood doing surveillance, and as i drive by the street i look and see a dog.. it looked like it was hit by a car and one banger lookin fuck was yelliin at a fat fuck... anyway, i looked again and it was two pits, the one had locked its jaws on the throat of the other.. i felt terrible, so i tried to call the cops in to help, but some fuckin drunk started questioning my being in the hood... due to this story, i no longer think pits should be allowed to live in the city... people think its the shit to have a bad ass dog... name it angel....... moe- i have probably had 100 or more staffordshires and pitts in my care....as for dog bites, the king is the cocker, closely followed by guess what, a dalmation...does anybody know the history of pit fighting in england?...its hard to argue against a few hundreds years of selective breeding for strength and aggression...true, you might get a pitt to not attack adult humans...but the incidences of them attacking other domestic animals is staggering....to not know other wise is irresponsible.... do your own research ------------------ IP: Logged |

I am not saying that their prey drive isnt strong. Lets face it they are fight dogs. That is what they do and that is what they love. I am saying that classifing "prey drive" as "innate aggression" is wrong. Also having a dog in your care and owning the breed is night and day. Lets be sure to keep the am. staff and pits in two different catagories. The am. staffer are breeding for comformation and leaving the gameness of the breed behind. Regardless of any of it hands down Pits are the best dog breed walking today. I have owned many breeds, rotts, shepards, boxer(likes to fight, but cant), and a variety of small breeds and for companionship, trustworthiness, and all around personality the pits have won over them all.
