I think I'm starting to actually lose interest in rap. I've steadily listened to and loved rap and hip-hop since I was like 10 years old and RUN DMC was the big thing. Uncle L, Ice Cube, Dre, EPMD, NWA, Public Enemy, all good rap groups or solo acts. Now every time I turn on MTV or BET all I see is the damn Big Tymers and Cash Money Millionaires rolling around in their Bentleys and Vipers with the goddamn price sticker still on the window. How fucking tacky is that? The blatant materialism is starting to wear on me and I'm sick of how shallow it's gotten. That's all they rap about now is hey check out my bezeled up Rolex with the ice on it and I just bought 8 Range Rovers with 20 inch blades today how you like me now. Like for instance I saw the video for "#1 Stunner" yesterday and it was the usual dudes doing donuts in their $100K+ cars and flashing their watches and bracelets at the camera. Check me out I'm a baller. It's old already. I haven't been able to figure out if it's here to stay or not. i used to love the shit....grew up listening to it , then about two years ago i got into death metal and from there into some serious electronic shit. i dont even listen to rap ever since that dork puff daddy took over. youre right , all it is is braggin about how many cars and what jewellery they rented for the video shoot. old school nwa still kicks ass IP: Logged |

Stick to true East Coast Hip Hop, the raw , underground shit, earth shit, rap and hip hop are 2 different things, cash money , that south shit like Master P , that music is for 4th grade dropouts with no intellectual stimulation whatsoever. Some True Hip Hop artists are De La Soul, Digable Planets, Black Star, Mos Def, Common Sense, Organized Confusion, Black Moon, Heltah Skeltah, Wu Tang, Killa Priest, Del , Souls of Mischief, Hieroglyphics(west coast), Nas(first album), Tribe Called Quest, Jeru, RZA, GZA and KRS. These guys stimulate your thoughts unlike that other south or west coast bullshit with kindergarten rhymes that just spells IGNORANCE. IP: Logged |

I miss Easy E. NWA was the shit. DMX is pretty dope though. He's one of my favorite new rappers. That guy pumped out 3 cd's in not time and they're all pretty good. I've been lifting to a lot of Slipknot and Static-X lately with some Death Metal thrown in and the more heavier bands. IP: Logged |

well I have grown up to NWA, and the rest of the west coast people. Living in texas i listend to alot of scarface's early stuff, ghetto boys, and i like the south shit the best. I like the hell out of all the cash money rapers. Some songs suck bad, but the ones that kick ass kind of go with my philosophy on life. Nothing beats pantera, nothing. IP: Logged |

Havoc, Hell yeah bro I grew up with all the same shit. I was getting worried though - thought you would forget KRS-One.....but there he was at the end of your list. I agree with the originator of this thread - a lot of what passes for rap today is trash. Stick to the East Coast guys, and you can still feel the flavor. Matt IP: Logged |
