One of the things that drives me insane is the absolute ignorance of a lot of people who "excercise". Most people I know excercise without the slightest intention of changing any aspect of their life or body. They do it because its supposed to be good for them. They do their aerobics for 30 minutes... then go home and eat like freaking slobs. Its not at all apparent to them that what they are doing will in no way shape or form improve the quality of their life! Two aspects of their lives are pulling in opposite directions which will leave them exactly where they started. They will make no progress whatsoever.... and they are content with that. They NEVER expected to see any changes in the first place... which is what drives me even more insane. Most of it is due in part to laziness. People just don't want to take the time to understand what makes the human body work the way it does, and what it takes to improve on it. They simply take what they see on the news or from a friend, and go with the fad. Yet, its so completely simple and easy to learn, there is NO excuse why everyone doesn't understand the basics of nutrition and excercise. It should be required in order to be a human being. Yet, there they are... clogging up our gyms and hogging our oxygen. Fat ass people who are content to stay the same, while they at least look like they are trying to change. The only way to change is to have attainable goals. Know what in the hell you are working towards and gear everything towards that. IP: Logged |

Many people have different goals. If people don't care about becoming bigger, faster, stronger, thinner, more defined, etc., then it is about how it makes them feel emotionally and mentally. Not a flame, but whatever works, right? Besides, all we can do is give advice and take it. We can't make everyone want to do the right thing for their bodies and lives. If it was easy everyone would look like the models in fitness mags. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I too think it is just about goals. For the past few months my goal has just been to get my head straight and ditch the fitness stuff while i'm working on the mental stuff. I think it's made me a better person, and while I have kept working out its nowhere near my #1 concern right now. I'm sure i'll eventually get back into it with the intent to keep improving, but for the moment I have other things that I would like to improve, and if anybody in the weight room tries to talk shit to me for that, well, thats their problem. Dlady27 - sounds like a great class! Do you have 2 sessions/week....i.e. upper body one time, lower body the next? I noticed you said you'd be going for working your legs the next time. Just curious. ------------------ IP: Logged |
