In my opinion this word(Love I am speaking of) is thrown around too much. I mean I truly think about 90% of the population dont know the true meaning of this shit. By no means am I implying that I do either, I do know that it is a word with alot of force and meaning behind it if you will. The reason I am talking about this subject today is that there is a girl I have been seeing for 3 weeks. Last night she tells me she loves me. What the F? What do you mean? In my mind I was like does she even know what that means. It makes me think that she uses that word just like any other word, shit I dont know I just think when one talks about the love of someone else they should analyze what they are saying before spitting out what seems like meaningless garbage, makes me question her integrity. Personally I am far as hell away from loving anyone(in regards to a women I am dating). Has any of you felt this way at all.

I don't look at love as a threat. Anyone can say they luv,luv luv me all they want to. Does'nt mean I'm obligated to luv them back. I can just nod my head and smile "oh, and I luv gear, weightlifting, getting laid, and being able to see my abs."

yeah, i think there's a difference between loving someone and being IN LOVE with someone. i love my dog, my best friend, my sister but i'm surely not in love with any of them.

i use this rationale to make it easier for me to say "i love you, too" even if i'm not "in love" with that person.

Love...I am not very fond of that word. It does not find it's way into my vocabulary very often.

Most people are grasping for a word that describes the way they feel inside when a new relationship is blossoming, so they use the word love, even though it most certainly isn't.
I wouldn't question her integrity, I think she wants to express the way she feels inside to you. But, "I'm deeply infactuated with you" doesn't quite hit the mark like "I love you!"

Are you having relations with this young lady? (Don't I sound just like someone's mother?)

Sometimes girls feel that in order to justify sleeping with someone they get themselves to believe they are in love, otherwise they feel cheap or like they are being taken advantage of. I'm not saying this is the case. Just offering you some insight.

Havoc, don't try to understand it. Who cares, if she thinks she loves you, she doesn't but do you need to make her understand that? If it makes her feel better to say it, fuck it, let her say it - just make sure she limits it to non-public type settings (no cb'ing) Now here are the ones you need to watch out for:

1. I'm pregnant (or I want to be)
2. Let's Move in together (or I'm moving out can I stay at your place for a while) ..yech
3. Lets get married
4. Lets have Hank join us in a threesome (unless thats your bag)

i know exactly what the word means but i am very hesitant to use that word unless its with my family....

loving someone is like needing air ...when your not with them you want to be ....when there near you ..you feel complete.....when you look into there eyes you see there soul....love is when you think of them before yourself

im sorry about my romantics coming out ...im really tired right now....

peace romeo

Ah yes, the universal "what is LOVE" question...damn if there isn't one word in the english language that creates more confusion and emotion. This word does not come easily to me...telling someone I love them - whether its a family member, friend or otherwise - makes me feel all kinds of vulnerable stuff I don't like to.

Funny how we throw it around though as in "I love to train", "I love chocolate", "I love the weekend". But when it comes to telling a person "I love you" its so charged.

Bmom is right about females equating sex with love. A lot of us do...I did until I knew better.

Yes, you are all right! Love is thrown around quiet frequently in life.

I thought I knew love in my first marriage. What a loser he was.....he cheated on me w/ someone I knew....crap, everyone told me he must have fallen high off a brick wall that I looked 100x better in addition to having a better personality & physique. (She didn't even work out!) Oh well, come to find out, I'm much better off now.......my marriage to husband #2 couldn't be better!!!

Thanks to dick of a husband #1, I'm doing SO MUCH BETTER in life!

Responses to "I love you":

- Hmm, well that's interesting...
- Thanks.
- I would too if I were you.
- You know what I'd love? To bang you right now.
- You're not the first honey.
- Are you hungry? I sure am... let's eat.
- Oh damn, look at the time.
- Hold on one second while I scratch my ass. What was that again?
- As I was saying before I was so rudely interupted.
- I bet you say that to every guy you've fucked.
- Shut your mouth.
- Does this mean we can hit the sack together now?
- I love you too... was that the right answer?

Its a problem with the English language. Years back when I studied Greek the word love had specific meaning based on a specific word such as eros or agape.

While it's wonderful to be told by someone that they love you I much prefer to be shown love. Actions speak louder than words.

I couldn't agree more. Tossing it around now and again when referring to inanimate objects or activities is one thing. It's another thing altogether when you're referring to a person you're dating. Me, I take those three little words very seriously. When I say them, I mean it. I've only told one girl that and at the time, I meant from the bottom of my heart (I was quite a bit younger and it may have been more of a case of "puppy love," but that's not how I felt at the time). I heard it a lot and it always throws me for a loop because it's been in situations like the original post. Maybe I'm just a little weird about the subject, but those words should never be used lightly.

My interpretation of love is caring for someone and wanting to be with them so much so that you put them before yourself, and want to be able to take care of them when they are hurting and you want to give them what they need whenever they need it, because their your best friend!

I agree that the word is used way too much, when I had a GF, she wanted me to say it at least 7 times a day, seriously she said that. I told her that I only like to say it at the right time, so naturally she got pissed and thought that I didn't love her at all, this is one of many reasons why I broke it off.
