Im normally a laid back kind of guy. On saturday night i had about 8 double JD and cokes, and cutting a long story short i hit my flat mate smashed a coffe table up, destroyed my front room and was generally a complete twat to everyone. I was sick in my sleep and could have died. Now id never really drunk whiskey before and always believed that drink was drink. Can anyone tell me if different drinks affect people in different ways. Also i rarely drink. IP: Logged |

You drank 8 double JD's? Well what the hell did you expected? Drink a gallon or two of beer and you'll get the same effect. Serious drunkness and alcohol poisoning which can possibly be fatal. Alcohol is alcohol. 1 shot of 80 proof whiskey all have roughly the same amount of alcohol. By drinking 8 doubles of JD you drank the equivilant of 16 beers. That's quite bit there wouldn't you say? Yeah, but why would different drinks affect you in different ways. Ive been pissed out of my head before but have never acted like this before. Alcohol is alcohol, so what gives. IP: Logged |

More whiskey can be drank in less time than beer or wine of even a cocktail. Even if you did drink 16 beers, by the time you drank the 16th beer the effects of the 1st would have left you system. It takes time to drink that much liquid. That's not the case with whiskey. Also the alcohol in whiskey will get into you bloodstream faster (less digestion is needed, smaller volume of liquid to break down). Anyone who takes in 16 shots of whiskey in asking for trouble with a capital "T". Consider yourself lucky. Your night could have ended up much much worse. IP: Logged |

Yeah. you could have ended up fucking some fat, nasty bitch. On a serious note, different drinks can definitely affect people differently. I notice I get a lot worse hangovers from whiskey than from rum or vodka. I am usually happier and more social when I drink hard liquer as opposed to beer. 16 shots of whiskey is definitely a lot of alcohol. If you don't drink that often, you must have been pretty fucked up. IP: Logged |

I say 8, that was the very least, i cant remember how many in total, i also had a couple of lagers. Thing is im a reasonably big guy and my flatmates tiny, he had the same to drink and was reasonably ok. The worst thing is not knowing what i have done. IP: Logged |

Let me be the first to say that I love a jack n coke. That's all I drink when I go out - I rarely drink beer nowadays. The caffeine keeps you from slowing down like beer usually does (at least me), plus I never wake up with a hangover like I do with beer. I don't go around breaking stuff or fight people but I guess that's my personality. Stay away from them if they make you do crazy shit. IP: Logged |

I used to tip them back alot, I could go through 8-10 shots of southern comfort and 8 pint size glassed of jack and cokes, with no problem. I have a friend that can drink his ass off, but the minute he drinks Jack he turns into a complete asshole! I don't know why this happens, I never have this problem. If I drink than I am nice as pie, sober is when I have a bit of a temper. Hack IP: Logged |

Jim Beam does it for me. I had a few episodes with it. I used to take a normal sized tall glass and fill the whole glass and mix in some coke. 80/20 mix coke being the 20. I'd down it in one or 2 gulps and in a few minutes I'd be flying high and I wasn't really violent but I would snap at the drop of a hat. I did this for a whole summer when I was 18. It does seem like some shit hits you harder at the same proof but I think it's mostly the amount and time frame. Seems like Scotch takes longer to buzz me up than bourbon at the same proof though. I love the "Old #7". My neighbor used to be an alcohol distributor and we would get fifths of Jack for around 4-5 dollars. At one point (early college days), I would go through one almost every night. But, being a nutrition major, I have to practice what I preach, and that means not looking like a fat-ass (beer belly syndrome), so I do not really drink any more. Whenever I get a Jack and Coke nowadays, I ask for Diet Coke instead. Never really had a problem with the Jack making me any more pissed-off than other liquors though. Interesting. IP: Logged |
