Does anybody know how much the bar on a smith machine weighs? (If anything at all)

whats up bro ill bump this because im curious as well


if i had to guess i would say it weighed 45lbs but because it is on a pully it might be lighter

just my thought though

I've heard anywhere from 15-45 lbs. 15 would be my guess. Post this on the anabolic board to get more resonses.

It totally depends on the manufacturer.

Cybex smith machines have 15 lb. bars.

It also depends on how loose the guide shafts are and how many pounds it is counterweighted to...

It varies according to the manufacturer. A gym I used to go to had a Smith machine with a bar that weighed 77 pounds.

Depends on counterweight. The Smith at my gym has a 45 bar with 20 pounds of counterweight. I think that's pretty standard.

nope, it weighs 225lbs...yep, i now bench 500...please dont tell me different, ive already made the T-shirts....
