Yesterday was leg day, wich i know we all love. Well, i havent been doing squat for a year or so, due to a lower back injury i sustained from deadlifts. so yesterday was the day i was going to embrace the joy of squatting again. after my thoroughly warm up(10 minutes on hte stationary bik, stretching, 1 warm up set on legextension/leg curls/leg press) i was ready to squat. i first did a set with only the bar, just to get he feel for the exercise, then put on like 140 pounds, just to warm it. felt ok, decided NOT to go heavy at all, went up to 180 pounds, and did my thing. 12 controlled, smooth reps. felt good so i added 20 more pounds. as i sit down on the bench to reckord it in my training diary, i feel this warm kinda sensation spread in my hams/inner tighs. im like "what the hell was that??". as i trie to stand up, pain shoots thru my hams/inner tigh. and i cant fucking understand it..i ge tunder the bar, unrack it, and try to squat...no way, have to rerack it, and try to squat without the bar..nope..im fucked up.. it messed up my whole training..no heavy movments at all, no leg curls, leg presses, hack squat, front squat, stifflegged deadlifts, hack squat..no nothing..just leg extension, lunges...damn it im thinking ive pulled something..so im sitting here with tiger balsm and stinking up the joint...HELL, and im 2 weeks out guys...DAMN IT!!! ------------------ "...damn you for not giving my TEST" - Metallica "After this show i'll be fat and happy again.....If i make it to the show...." - Lee Priest IP: Logged |

hehe... i know how it is on leg day. can barely walk to my car afterwards. make sure to stretch out during the exercise, that prevents me from any cramps or pulling a muscle. for the meantime, stay away from squats... IP: Logged |

i hear ya bro..but i want to do squats when i get back to bulking, need that extra size on my legs. and about the stretching..i can do splits all three ways cold bro...and i stretch all the time...luckily the last 2 weks of dieting down doesnt require much work in the gym..just the pumping feeling..so i'll be allright. SHIT I was in the middle of this really good post (or so I thought anyway) and the fucking computer just fucking shut off and bumped my ass off-line!!!!!!! Anyway, brotha what is your goal bf% and where are you now? If your goal is say, 5 -6% and your at say, 8% now I cay CHILL - cause you still have 3 weeks, you'll make it. When you go through sodium depletion you're going to give up a lot of water and you'd be surprized at what you thought was fat is REALLY WATER. Secondly, the leaner you get the weaker you will get. When I was @4 1/2 weeks out I could no longer do smith-machine lunges because my hip-flexors would cramp up BAD!! (Due to calcium deficiency - took a day off, took some supplements and BAM - Cured!) I know of many competitors who would only do their posing routine/workouts (1 hr in AM and 1 hr in PM) for the entire final week b4 showtime and had their feet up for most of the rest of the time (kind of hard for me, though with four kiddies). I was also restricted from executing certain movements - had something to do with lack of fat around joints and connective tissue - I don't have my personal training cert, yet! - coupla' weeks!! Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that your activity level and the types of acivities you engage in are determined at this point by your bf%. You are no longer building mass (really) only trying to hold on to what you have. - SO CHILL ON THE SQUATS - your body is trying to tell you something here man, LISTEN!!!!! DUDE!!! How ya' been otherwise? Let me know! You know I'm thinkin' about ya (I just started "for really" dieting yeaterday - the show I wanted to do has been cancelled, the other competition which was my second choice is being postponed and the only other choice for me right now is in exactly 8 weeks!) yeah i either pulled it or over worked it...just bombing it with tiger balsam and hoping for the best right about now.. i mde my bro take a 3 point caliper test on me..and i was a 8.9% bf. some on the chest, mostly on the lower abs and he couldnt get a hold of anything on the tigh..so its probably a little bit lower..cuz we just used the lowes possible on the calipers when we measured tighs... looking forward to hearing from you again bm... ------------------ "...damn you for not giving my TEST" - Metallica "After this show i'll be fat and happy again.....If i make it to the show...." - Lee Priest IP: Logged |
