really quickly i wanted to make sure that people understand that when dining out you tip your server 15% to 20%. average is/was 15%, but has risen. i am so tired of all the cheep fuc*s who do not know how to tip. if this is you, which i am sure it is not, then good. if this pertains to you, it is time you learned. we do not work for free. 2.13/hr though it would clear that up since all i waited on was morons tonight at work. aahhhhhhhhhhhhh dirtyratt p.s.- we do remember those who screw us and get you for it next time we see you...something to think about IP: Logged |

I used to be a bus boy and most of my pay was on tips. If the people don't tip the waitresses good then we don't get that much in tips from them. Unless they think you're nice, cool, or cute. I was thought of as all 3 by different people, so I walked away with some good cash. Lousy tippers do suck. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Im black & It seems that sometimes I get strange looks when me & girl come in cause the obvious assumption is that cause im black im not gonna tip.I bartend so I always tip,but I have noticed that alot of my fellow brothas & sistas dont tip as often as others.I dont know why but it pisses me off no matter what color someone is when i get stiffed. I deliver on the weekends and get stiffed on occasion, however i wouldn't spit in someone's food. I hate to generalize but the worst tippers are: elderly people, like snoopdog said blacks, and Mexicans (< they never tip at all). I don't mean to generlize but thats been my experience so far in the three years i've been delivering. As always though there are always exceptions to the rule. IP: Logged |

I hear you bro, but when I eat at a buffet, and I get all my own shit, and some waitress comes by every 2 minutes and fills up my water for no reason...I don't she her deserving a tip when I paid 8$ for the buffet, I tip more for good service, if the waiter seems pissed off and never says a word, then he ain't getting shit. ------------------ IP: Logged |

i dont spit in anyones food, ok. next time you get really shitty, i mean really shitty, service from me if i remember you. the company i work for is really well known and if anyone ever pulled any shit like spitting they would be straight up fired. i'm a lady anyway, i do not spit  i do agree with the good service=good tip, but also i think some people just do not know. i need to work somewhere the tip is included. that is where the $ is anyway. i can't wait for season when all the northern snowbirds come back...they know how to tip:P think of tipping like this. the server has to tip out to the bar, hostess, and bussers 3% of their sales. if only assholes come in and you average 10% all night, with sales of say 600$ you walk home with only 42.00. bad, very bad!

wow...as a former server and bartender i feel ya....but let's not forget the good nights...i worked at a place in athens, ga where i sold 2000 on a weekend night...i would walk with 300 bucks...for 6 hours of work....thats 50/hour...way more than i deserved...doesn't it seem to work out in the end for you, dirtyratt?...if not, look elsewhere, there is some crazy money in service industry sometimes...i just can't hang with the lifestyle anymore...too many drugs, too much sex, not enough sleep....if you think you can't too much sex, try getting a very bad reputation as a freak and pick up a nice girl in the know...hard as hell to live that shit down... lol- i need one of those pins to put on my shirt in the end i make good money $350+ for 25hrs isn't bad. i am in college so it works for now. got to school they off to work. got out of the drug scene and my man works with me so i can forget about all that flirting, fucking stuff. all is good though. just thought i would inform everyone because some people just do not know. p.s.- worked as a waitress in a strip club and made fat cash. at least 250/night, but the enviroment sucked and is not a place i like to spend my nights. you were allowed to straight up tell customers.."you need to tip me more!" then there were the high rollers who would give you 100$ tip. those are the ones i like IP: Logged |

When my dad goes out with people, this sounds strange, if he is thinking the bill is going to be around $200 will put $60 about 30% on the table and the the person that is there tip starting out and leave it at that. If everything is okay-good service the get all of it. If it fair-okay they get $30. If it is bad he ask for the mgr and explains the situation and gives nothing. It kind of bothers me, but the majority of the time he gives about an average of a 25-35% tip which is great I think. I personally give 15% for bad service and never go the place again. If he or she does a good job, they'll get a good tip (20%+). If it is woman and she is cute and flirtatious, she gets a very good tip (so I'm superficial at times...don't like it? well if you're cute then I might be sorry...sorry, I can't help myself). What's the deal with tipping? Don't you guy's get a proper wage or do u have to make it up by tips. This ? is not meant to sound condensending But could someone explain the whole tipping culture to me. For me 20 is steep since im a athlete and live off a scholarship check from month to month, just gave my opinion, maybe a smart ass comment or two were thrown in, i apologize. dr- i hear ya girl. I worked at a resort on clearwater beach for 6 months part-time and experience alot of people frickin suck at tipping (how bout the Brits/french they are the worst!) Sorry Canadians! Most of them anyway. I had at least three many different bills during that 6 months that came to 100.00 or more and they left me zilch, nado, zippo. Fuckers!! They came they don't freakin know cause where they are from the servers get paid more than we do. Bullshit, i even tried leaving one of those nice cards in with the bill explaining for our "foreign customers the tipping etiquette here in the US and still nada. Those people piss me off but then there are those save the night folks who come in and their bill is 10.00 for maybe just a dessert or somethin and they leave you a $20.00 tip. I always leave at least 30% tip if the service is decent. Also, I tend to eat at the same places, the people know me, know I tip well, and therefore, the service is ALWAYS great. yeah i like tips too.....its kind of nice when your working in 102 degree temperature and constantly changing tires in front watchful, waiting, and sometimes impatient customers. Then one old guy see's your sweating your ass off busting ass on his car to get it done because we are doing our job and says "heres a dollar, go buy you a soda and take a break". well thats nice even though we can't take a break. by the way i work at discount tire(and we do accept tips), im not bitching, i like my job but you shouldn't complain about not getting tips all the time because im sure a lot of people give you tips to make up for a-holes that dont. by the way i always tip at restaurants.
