Ok, one of my friends has a python and its really cool, just slithers around and hangs out. My mom won't let me have any pets that can dig in her garden and I am not moving out for another year. I was also at the beach today and this guy had a red tailed boa and i walked around with him on my neck all day. Hes so cool! And I fell in lve with him so now I want one of my own. Boas get a little too big (10ft avg) so I was leaning towards a python (5ft avg)...and thats the deal.

I have two Ball Pythons. They are easy to take care of. They don't mind being held. Just don't do wierd shit around their heads.

Always buy babies, never pre owned adults. You never know how they were cared for, and they could be head-shy or mean or both. If they are battered animals they won't make good pets.

They get to about 6 ft. and pretty thick.
They are also very pretty after they shed.

Hope this helps.

I'm friends with a guy with a rattlesnake. I hate that damn thing!! I don't really like snakes, but I do have an American Alligator. They make pretty cool pets too if you know how to handle them.

Sight,
I was looking particularly at ball pythons b/c thats what my friend has. How old are yours? Are they full gorwn and if so how big? And how often do you feed them?? And do u feed them rats or mice? Live or dead? Sorry I am just not too good at this yet!

When they are babies feed them things called pinkies. They are hairless newborn mice. Live is what I have always fed mine. When they are young, feed them every week or every other week. When they start to grow, get feeder mice. Usually two mice every other week. Mine are about four years old, and I feed them 2 miniature rats. The mice and rats are always store bought to reduce sickness and infection. You really can't screw the snake up. These things don't have to eat for months at a time, but we feed them because we want them big. Nobody wants a pet worm. haha. You can always email me, or just ask the pet store MANAGER. Part timers don't know what the hell they are talking about.

you for sure want a ball python. they never bite and stay small. Plus the albinos are like $7500. Buy a male and a female and make some money. Or you can buy a pie bald ball python which is normal patterned with pure white patches on it. They are like 15k for females and 20k for males. Goto www.pkreptiles.com, if you want a regular one you can check out www.newenglandreptile.com they have the best prices.

I never cared much for snakes but the best pet I ever had, besides dogs, was a Caiman. They are related to crocodiles. That thing was awesome. He used to eat mice almost daily. Snakes are cool but the ones i've seen don't eat hardly at all. They'll eat something and then not eat again for weeks. I loved watching my Caiman eat mice. It was like having the discovery channel in my tank.

So I'm going to bring this thread right on down to the gutter....

Go for the tube snake, I've got a 12" one and he never bites - to hard, but he does require lots of attention :p

Ok so I saw the same guy at the beach today with the boa, and I was hanging around with the snake around my neck and al of a sudden I feel him wigging out. So I look down where his head is (by my wrist) and his mouth is all wide open and i'm like OH NOOOOOOO, then out comes a rat that he ate 2 days ago. I have never seen anything more disgusting in my life. I keep repeating the vomiting snake over and over in my head.

Yeah caimans are a lot of work when they get big. Mine at all the time and got pretty big fast. I didn't have a big enough tank and at the time I had him in a 90 gallon one. Decided to get rid of him but he was definately one of the coolest pets I ever had. Someone said they had an American Aligator. If i'm not mistaken they are black with gold markings. They look awesome and get a little larger than caimans. The coloring on them is way better though.

Gerbils, eh? Hmmm... To all the snake experts here: are there any snakes that eat annoying 12 year old kids? 'Cause I would definitely buy one.
