This morning when I was stretching I heard something "POP" in my upper back, well I ignored it and worked out anyhow. (Legs and cardio) Now, I can barely move my neck without it hurting! same thing happens when I move my shoulders. The pain is shooting up and down my back. It is also VERY still now. What could have happened when I was stretching? And should I leave work and go to the Chiropractor or what? IP: Logged |

You may have slipped a disc or pinched a nerve. I have done this in my lower back, but not my upper back. The swelling has to go down before the disc will go back into place. Depending on location, this can take 3-7 days. If it does not improve within a few days, you should probably see a physical therapist or a chiropractor. Getting a massage should definitely feel good. DLady, I honestly believe it isnt a disc, I think you just pinched a nerve, especially if it shoots like you describe, massage, ice and TIME will help. If it doesnt get any better in 3 or 4 days, then you may want to get it looked at. It will probably feel worse tomorrow, but it should start feeling better after that. Give it time, dont forget ice especially if you can pinpoint the pain, ice is the shit. Ice at least 3 times a day followed by a 4-5 minute massage. Good Luck, dont worry I believe you will be ok. This is just another learning experience for you in the realm of injuries. Injuries are inevitable in this game, they will teach you valuable lessons. IP: Logged |

Dlady: The same thing happens to me every know and then. You probably just threw your neck out of alignment or something. The pain starts in your neck then slowly creeps down your back. My pain takes about a week to go away. It sucks. [This message has been edited by FlexB (edited July 10, 2000).] IP: Logged |
