I think the old pics of Arnold in his prim are a thousand times better than todays pro's.
It seems they just go too far today, and just don't look as good.

probably gonna get flamed for this one but I totally agree, for me I want to be big but not a freak. Respect those freaks cause they have made a total and very literal Lifetime commitment to look the way they do, but as far as aesthetically speaking - I love the old timers looks, no bloat, no oil in the shoulders, no balloon look, a nice tight clean and ripped look. I like that.

flame me if you want but I am for new school because well I would rather look like Dorian or ronnie than ferrigno or arnold. though I do hold a high respect for old because they are responsible for what the sport has today.

Here here...The Old timers are still where it should be....Props to the freaks, but the old timers just make it look better....

when I was Young and Arnold was speaking all the time on fitness in kids back in the Early Bush years thats what got me motivated to one day get into Bodybuilding...I really enjoyed how overall apealing the old school guys looked

old school, new school...the only really difference is tht they have newer and better drugs. i like a bit from both worlds...i mean..look at Lou Ferrignio when he was at his biggest he had MONSTER traps, i mean, they were so thick no current bb can measure up to it...and now we have guys like Milos, he has good symmetri, small waits and all that..but he aint winning anything. reason? cuz we want it BIGGER. Thats why we al are rooting for Lee Priest, hes the biggest freak out there.

but i agree, nobody looks like arnold and columbu did..but if they did..would the win anything??

MrMuscle, I don't think they could even get pro status today. They were big, but todays judges want to see almost 0% fat and almost 0% water in thier systems. I think todays pros are some of the most unhealthy people around. I think it is kind of a shame. Judges need to go back to the old standards of quality muscle and symetrey.

Actually I think arnold's waist was 34inches at 240 ilbs, but because of his v-taper it seemed so small-yep judges should not have rewarded bloated people like sonbaty/dorian and then maybe we would see more 'classic' looking bbs out there today, but hey- shawn ray still looks pretty sculpted, as does wheeler when he doesn't weight too much.

There is a real difference in the DRUGS, nutrition, and even training methods used today vs. then. So Arnold probably would've been sucessful today. Would he have dominated? Who knows? I'm betting many of the pro's then could have been pros today. Look at Lou Ferrigno. He competed in the 70's and in the 90's and looked quite different during each era (not just the haircut either). 90's Lou would've kicked the 70's Arnold's ass, but who know what the 90's Arnold would've looked like.

I personally like the bodybuilders today. I believe they're much more impressive, but I know that they use a lot roids. I like Dorian Yates. But if I could chose my physique, I would like to have a physique like Mike Mentzer and Casey Viator. They look more natural.

I like old school better, but Arnold was a freak of nature himself. No one else had the shoulder to (wasp)waist dro like him. He would have won today because of his mentality. He was a winner and if he was competeing today he would have done whatever it took to win.

The older guys look much better. Though I even think they are way to big to look good. Present day pro bodybuilders look horrible. The reason people look at them is because they are freaks, not because they look good.

Arnold's taper was damn good but so was Lee Haney's. Haney's kinda in between old school bodybuilder and modern day freak IMO. Ol' Skool guys definately look healthier becuase they were. MaxMuscle for those days Mentzer used a lot of roids.

I'm very sure that Mentzer and Viator juiced. What I was commenting on, was that I would rather look like them, because they 'look' more natural. Every bodybuilder back then juiced.
