Do you guys think it's safe to eat a steak that's been wrappped in foil for like 5 hours? I work out in the oilfields, and we're nowhere near a microwave or fridge. I need my protein and calories, but I don't want to get food poisoned either... IP: Logged |

As long as you keep it in a cooler at a fairly cold temperature(36-46 degrees) it will be fine to eat.Just dont let it sit out in room temperature too long or it will spoil. IP: Logged |

Its safe to eat cold meat, hot meat, room temperature meat or whatever just as long as its cooked and hasnt been sitting out all day. I would keep it in a cooler or something just for good measure. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hey, they've got these new things out called ice cubes. They work great at keeping your food cold. I also hear there are boxes called coolers but I haven't seen them yet. J/K. Plus the cold food will cause your body to burn calories to heat it up to body temp. IP: Logged |

Its all in the nose, raw and cooked meat have a distinct smell when bad.Just take a good whiff and you will know if its good to eat.5 hours in foil should be no problem to a cooked piece of meat.I'd eat it no problem. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Sweetie, I hope that you keep your food in a cooler at work to begin with and if you do and have those Ice Packs in it, the you shouldn't have a problem. But if you still want the protein and can't have steak, because of spoilage why not just throw a can opener in there and just take lots of tuna in a can. Tuna can't go bad if it isn't opened. Steak doesn't spoil as fast as chicken or fish either, so you should smell it before you digest it. ------------------ IP: Logged |
