I heard somewhere that he is half African American and half Causasian (Italian). Since he is from my home state, we used to hear a lot about him, not much anymore though.

I'm 1/4 white well Jew really (grandpa was Jewish), 1/8 (native American) the rest is black as far as I know. I just consider myself black. Eventhough I think I put multi-racial on the census form. I'm not offended. I often get that "are you mixed?" question.

Because I believe the census specifically asked the question of your total ethinic make up. So I listed it. If someone asks what I am, I say black and leave it at that. Now if someone asks if I mixed with anything else I'd tell them. I'd not ashamed of being part Jewish or native American, but I don't wear it on my sleve either.

I believe it's to determine how many people of whatever ethicity, age and sex live in an area. And federal funds are distributed to areas according to the results. i.e. money for schools, old folks programs, programs for minorities. That's what I heard.
