I have developed an obsessive compulsive disorder from it all. I can't stop worrying if I ate right and trained right. I think about it 24/7. Sometimes I can use it to my advantage but other times it drives me fucking nuts. Especially the diet thing. I constantly worry about how I am eating. Did I eat enough. did I eat too much, did I measure everything out right, am I counting my calories, protein, carbs, and fat correctly. I am going fucking mental. Felt good to vent right there though. IP: Logged |

Sounds like your figuring out that bodybuilding isnt a "hobby" for the dedicated die-hards...its a LIFESTYLE!! You dont quit obsessing man..and it will affect your life. I live every day thinking about the gym..and what I could have done better...or did this or that...or my diet... I scan the mirror constantly..amazing how to me..my physique changes on a daily basis..hmmmmm....actually it probably is just me.. Ya just gotta run with it bro..its that kind of hunger and attention to detail that will get you results.. later, IP: Logged |

I have the same problem, maybe not quite as severe as yours but I think I have reverse anorexia. No matter how many times my friends tell me im getting bigger I keep myself in a state of denial about my progress. This can be good & bad.I believe it may very well be a slight case of OCD.I heard prozac is helpful with this. You should talk to your doctor, its no big deal. Many people on this board are on different types of antidepressants. GOOD LUCK IP: Logged |

That is a mental disorder no doubt about it... i think you should take a time off the gym... There are more important things in life than being muscular, and being muscular is overrated in some peoples minds... Its not that important, even when it comes to getting laid... ------------------ IP: Logged |

I agree 100% with elite lifter. i used to hardly leave the f'in house for more than 2 or 3 hours because I was so worried about my next meal. If anyone wants to act hardcore and flame me, be my guest, but there is much more important in life than me. I may just lift to look better, but whats the point if you never freaking leave your house for more than 2 or 3 hours at a time, quit staying out late with friends, etc. IP: Logged |

I think what I'm trying to say for myself is that the bodybuilding lifestyle is not for me. SOme people can go at it 100% and devote their life to it, but I am going to devote my life to enjoyment. NOt saying anyone has to do what I do, but its what makes me feel best. lifting weights keeps me in shape and makes me know i look better, therefor letting me enjoy myself a little better. I just try not to take it way too seriously. If you are having these obsessive thoughts (I used to for about 2 years straight) I highly suggest you re-evaluate your priorities and look at your life overall. chances are some other stuff is not going well and by having control over something (your physique, diet) you are able to feel like you have a grasp on your life. I'm not nuts, maybe used to be, but i just think theres a lot more to life. peace guys IP: Logged |

i have this problem. it interfiers with my school work, my sleep, my social life, my mind, my job, my whole fucking life! im constantly thinking about training, eating, rest, i feel guilty about going on vacations becuase my diet and training will be "off". i cant sleep at night becuase i think about my workouts, in school i sit there and go over my diet and training in my notebook. as a result i almost failed this year (my GPA was 65.8). everyone thinks i am insane for obsessing over this so much, i think i am too. hopefuly it will go away in time... but for now it is keeping my on track with my bodybuilding goals. Shit I hear that Crackerot. I don't do anything as it might compromise my sleep/diet. The last time I went out to do anything was for my 18th birthday (to a strip club I might add ) and you can bet I was munching on Metrx bars and diet coke the whole time I was in there. It's just that nothing else really matters to me that much. Nothing. IP: Logged |

If this lifestyle causes serious mental/health problems for you, then maybe you should get help. I'm not obsessed, but I am dedicated. The difference is simple: Obsession is something you CAN'T control. Dedication is something you CAN control. ------------------ IP: Logged |
