Just was wondering why some men don't train legs. Just my .02 but it looks absolutely ridiculous. There's two guys at my gym that have nice upper bodies. Nice chest, descent arms and NEVER train legs. Geeesh, they don't even know how stupid that looks. I want to walk up to them and say HOW ABOUT SOME SQUATS!!!!! Just thinking out loud here. Anyone know of any guys like that? IP: Logged |

all i know is the squat rack is pretty neglected at my gym as well. they like the leg press with a couple plates on it, i guess to sit down for a while or something. just got back from training legs, and almost puking hehe. i had to cut it short after squats and leg extensions, sat in the locker room for about 10 minutes trying to remember who i was. hehe j/k. but i was pretty wrecked. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Yeah those guys suck....though I consider myself to be pretty small after my recent diet time...dropping down from 215 to 205...I can't stand seeing most of the guys at my gym cause the few serious ones there excluding the power lifting guys are a bunch of chicken leg dweebs... Down with the no leg lifting pukes IP: Logged |

Leg day is the best training day. It's only day that I don't have to wait for equipment. That's what separates us from the wife beater wearing pretty boys! I love it when they come out of the locker room with huge baggy jeans to cover up their twiggs...Pussys! ------------------ [This message has been edited by slabcat (edited July 03, 2000).] IP: Logged |

Bench press is a test of upper body strength. Squats for the entire body's strength. At school I hear some kid talk bout how he can bench (I dont bench alot)and he busts on me for not being able to bench it. I say how much you squat pussy. The answer is silence. I smile and walk away from the asshole. Sure big arms are nice, but I hear alot of chix say how skinny guys legs are and they like big thick legs. Most of them prefer a bigger lower body than upper. Cause when they're boyfriend has to beat up some mug whos fuckin with her and he dex the asshole (80% of a punch's power is from the lower body) breaking his jaw. We were playing this school's ice hockeyb team and one of the kids on the other team had huge arms, chest, etc and skinny legs. (my legs aint huge but pretty big) He talked shit to me on the ice bout he would plow threw me. He skated into my zone and BOO-YA put him on his ass. Mofo thought twice bout coming into my territory when I was on the ice. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Oh yeah, somebody told me that men who don't train legs are like cars without tires. Nice to look at, but can't perform. That goes for all things. Sex, sports, lifting. That bout sums up where they wont be able to go the distance. Sex b/c it takes alot of leg strength for some postions. Sports well cause its sports. Lifting well cause its lifting. ------------------ IP: Logged |

The only bad thing about having big legs is that you have to walk like youv'e had jock itch all your life or you pole squated an olympic bar up your ass........your balls don't have any room to do the windmill. Only us guys with big legs know that. But like you say women love big legs....but they also laugh at the way I walk!!!! ------------------ IP: Logged |

I work out at 24hour fitness I think I'm one of the few that know where the squat rack is. There is always a line for the dumb bells etc... But I can always walk straight up to the squat rack. And it does suck that your legs rub together. Anyone else have problems with the inside of your legs rubbing? L8R ------------------ IP: Logged |

Yeah, your legs crush your testicles whenever you sit down. I think Arnold started this whole upper-body craze. Plus, people can't show off their legs like they can biceps and chest. IP: Logged |

Well, the reason is quite simple...leg training HURTS..not just burns like biceps, but HURTS..you just want to lie down and die after finishing yu leg workout..most people cant bare that pain..

Elitelifter- But someone can also say you can hurt yourself doing benches, military press, curls, rows, etc. Proper form is key. I know squats are probably the most complex and exhausting exercise, but I feel most of the people who say they "can't" do squats are saying it because they would rather do benches and curls. Just my opinion. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I've always seen these guys as shore houses - you know, the ones that are out over the water supported on those skinny little poles? Big beautiful homes that can be washed out to sea the minute a little wind kicks up. Blow hard and BAM they're gone! And for all of you brothers who have the "rubbage" problem. IT'S DEFINITELY WORTH THE PAIN!!! Please try to find the fortitude to live with the discomfort ...don't rob those of us who can appreciate true beauty from the pleasure of witnessing you fellas live, breathe, and move - sheer poetry in motion! 2BIG4U - That's for you especially - I would never giggle as you walked by. I'd be thinkin", "DAMN - THE DUDES AMAZING!" MR M - Honey, I'm so glad that there is something out there to ease your pain! IP: Logged |

the reason that some men dont train legs is becuase it hurts and it is too damn hard and takes too much energy. I dred working legs becuase i know whats coming....numerous painfull sets to failure with that painfull lactic acid burn, fatigue, sometimes dizziness and near puking experiences. its not fun for me but i NEVER miss a leg night. I love leg training. I wish they recovered faster so I could train them again. By the time I hit 18-20 I'm gonna have tree trunks for legs like my favorite defensemen Dan McGillas on the Flyers. Ladies I would like to say the main reason I train legs is for you, but I don't. I train them for hockey. You come in 2nd though. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I admit it. I don't train legs in the traditional fashion. Most of my leg training comes in the form of running and jumping rope. Why? because I am an extreme mesomorph who was really fat for a really long time and has naturally large/muscular legs. I don't want 'em to get any larger until my upper body catches up. Otherwise, my symmetry will always be bad. Puc IP: Logged |

great topic. I'll post a similar topic in the training board. I love to squat. I am currently getting to learn front squats. I love leg day in fact I am starting an intense leg blow up where I work legs more than any thing else. My dad never squats. he wants big legs but relies on leg presses. at the gym there are a lot of idiots who love to talk trash about people but yet they are fat with somewhat big arms and and you need to get a magnifying glass to see their legs. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I actually look forward to training legs. I just discovered the joy of 20 rep squats no too long ago and it fucking sucks now cause my knee is killing me when I do squats. It's not the weight it's just the motion. My other knee is fine and I know I didn't screw up the other one from squatting. It's pissing me off but I decided to take 2 weeks off on squats and give it some hot/cold therapy in the meantime. I just might have to shorten that to 1 week. I'm pissed though cause there's nothing like that feeling after busting your ass on leg day. IP: Logged |

LOL, how about the guys with beach muscles who "train" legs at 3 plates on the smith and do like 1/8 squats, LOL. I mean I have to walk out of the room for laughing so hard. And they slam the plates on the bar LMAO and do little tiny squats. WTF? IP: Logged |
