I heard the same thing bro. I was drinking some water when I heard that and I almost spit it all over I wanted to laugh so hard. Twiggy is 140 wet at best. His ribs stick out further than his chest. They were just trying to hype him even more. This just shows what the average public knowledge of the iron sport is. They are clueless. 90% of the people who heard that beleived it because they know no better. They think bench is the only test of strength. So this announcer tossed out some number he had heard before and knew was impressive and put it in front of Tiger's name. Sell that image baby, sell it. He can golf but he is no body builder or power lifter. IP: Logged |

Maybe he's talking 300 on some idiotic cable bench machine with 18 pulleys that the cable has to go through. He'd never get up 300lbs of real weight.

Gotta agree with E2. 300 is a lot of iron. we osmetimes think it isn't a lot because some of us lift a lot more, but 300 is no joke. Tiger lifting it is. Matt IP: Logged |

Initially, I would have to agree with the rest of the board and say no way in hell... BUT I once read that Michael Jordan was able to push 335 lbs, and he has much longer arms and a lankier build than even Tiger. In his prime, Jordan was at a playing weight of between 216-223 lbs at 6' 6". I also read that when Shaquille O'Neal joined the Magic, he could not even push 185 lbs. on bench! That is just amazing to me. ------------------ "You think that is PAIN?!?! It is premature enlightenment." IP: Logged |

Well i must say i didnt believed that too but... Kobe Bryant squats 800lbs, i heard it in the radio... when i saw him playing i imagined those big, ripped legs would push some weight... and what a weight... ------------------ IP: Logged |

Supposedly, the strongest person in the NBA for his size is San Antonio Spurs guard Avery Johnson, who can bench 450, which is 2 1/2 times his weight. One of the announcers on TNT said this a few years back, and it does seem ridiculous. Some wise man said don't believe everything you read or hear, and that might apply here. ------------------ "You think that is PAIN?!?! It is premature enlightenment." IP: Logged |

Horse shit on Kobe squating 800. He has to push that weight four miles with legs as long as his. IP: Logged |

I don't know if Kobe can squat 800, but his legs need to be DAMN strong to have a 40 inch vertical... if I were to guess, I would have to say Anthony Mason can probably put up the most impressive numbers in the gym, in the NBA. That guy is a monster... ------------------ "You think that is PAIN?!?! It is premature enlightenment." IP: Logged |

Kobe ain't putting up 800 on squat. Don't believe everything you hear. Leg press maybe. 800 is alot of weight on your back. Its not just your legs. Thier probably 3 or 4 people on this whole board that could do that. Jordans bench would not suprise me, he's got good mass on his side and carries a good amount of muscle. So even with long arm I could see him doing it. IP: Logged |

I was joking... Kobe Bryant has skinny legs, and no he doesnt leg press 800lbs either (i bet he struggles with 400...)!!!No No Jordan wont go above 240lbs im positive... He doesnt have that much muscle, the ripped fellas always look bigger... I saw Dennis Rodman once, in a Pearl Jam concert and man hes tall (probably above 6"8...) but he looked much more muscular in the Tv... hes a skinny fella believe me, i was near him... Basketball players dont need to be very strong... ------------------ IP: Logged |
