I do know that he lifts six mornings a week so who knows. They mentioned that he could bench 300 on tv during the U.S. open also. He is pretty cut up like in the bi's and tris, but I agree his frame, his shoulders and chest don't look like they're capable of that. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I'm thinking Smith machine 300. When I first saw this I laughde, but there's a guy at my gym who weighs like 170, and benches 365 for 4 reps. He's not built like a powerlifter or anything - he';s got long skinny arms and a small chest, but I have seen him do it. It makes my 420 at a weight of 255 seem shitty. So maybe Tiger can - you can't always judge strength by appearance. Matt IP: Logged |

sorry but you cant judge strength by size.. if you knew any thing about power lifting you would know that theres different weight classes and there are guys at 130-140 that would throw 300 like its toy... IP: Logged |

I'm not saying it isn't possible, but in my opinion no way!! His frame is way too small. He has no build at all. Peace DrZ IP: Logged |

In the newest issue of Sports Illustrated, it says that Tiger Woods has put on 24 lbs of muscle since he started lifting... 300 seems VERY feasible for someone who has made such greats strides to improve his strength. ------------------ "You think that is PAIN?!?! It is premature enlightenment." IP: Logged |

glen you cant put up 300 cause you dont train for strenghth you train for looks... strenghth training and bodybuilding is a whole different ball game, most bodybuilders are still kinda weak...most of the guys i observe at the gym have been lifting the same poundages for the last year.. IP: Logged |

I wouldn't think he could do 200 either. I just don't see it at all. The guy is small and doesn't even look built at all. I've seen some smaller guys put up some nice weight but they at least had a good build. IP: Logged |

Sour Jerk (nice name) makes a point that should be repeated: Bodybuilding and strength training are two different things. I've seen light guys do huge iron....but still, I'm skeptcial of Tiger based on his appearance. Glen, email me a copy of your training routine...I'm alsmot starting to feel sorry for you - I'll try to helpyou. Matt IP: Logged |

I agree closely with Matt... some exceptional athletes can be very strong for their size... Joey Galloway (of the Cowboys, last year with the Seahawks), is under 200 lbs and reportedly can bench 500 Conversely, I would like to know all of the conditions of his bench... was it free weight, a Smith machine, or some other kind of machine.... what range of motion did he use (all the way down, or only a partial)...did he have a guy spotting him and helping to lift the weight at all? It's like this guy I see curling at my gym... he uses a 120 lb bar, but uses more back, legs and shoulder than biceps... if he were to use my form, he probably would only be using 70 or 80 lbs....
