my brother did it (in canada , if you could call that an army) and it was the best thing for him. he got a great education and he got huge. although its tough , you get to do alot of things you normally would never get the chance to do. go for it. IP: Logged |

Well dude, I was thinking about the exact same shiat you are about 7 months ago and talked to Army, and The Air Force. Man I wouldn't do it if I were you. They talk it all up and glorify it but when it comes down to it, when are you going to have time to go to school? You have do some messed up shifts in the military too, and they may not agree with your school schedule either. What if Russia is feelin fiesty(sp?) and you need to go to war. A lot of things to consider bruh. Try financial aid, you can sign up over the web and then you can either get help or get a loan that doesn't have a lot of interest. Good Luck IP: Logged |

I'm in the army. I've been in for 22 months and am counting the days till I get out. The service is a different experience for everyone depending on a lot of things such as: the job you choose, the post you are stationed on and, your unit and your whole chain of command. I wish I would have joined the national guard, because you go through the same basic training but when your done you go home and only work one weekend a month and two weeks a year. Your unit can still catch a deployement i.e. Bosnia, Kuwait, egypt etc. The Army is extremely undermanned right now so you have a better chance to get a cash bonus and other SO CALLED goodies, the highest bonuses are usally given to the infantry. I personally hate the Army right now, but for some people the army could be a great place. To sum it up I don't think the bonus or money for college is worth it. Don't trust your recruiter either because its their jo b to get you to join. If you have any questions I will gladly answer them, just e-mail me or post them on this thread. Hope this helps!!! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Bro, I've seen both ends of the military spectrum. I was an Army Ranger for a while, one of the few places in the military where there is always enough money and enough soldiers. I've also seena lot of reserve units at work, and toi be honest with you, they are at best quasi-military for the most part. I'm not knocking the people who serve, but it's different than active duty. Reserves is a decent way to get money for school, but it won't be a true military experience, (which is both great, and sucks, at the same time....military types know what I mean) if that matters to you. Done Army and N.G. The best thing I ever did. Second best thing I ever did was get the fuck out. N.G. isn't bad. If you got a degree with that student loan then I'd do it. Retirement isn't bad and you play powertrip for two days a month. Don't be afraid of Basic. Mine was fun. It isn't the kick your ass style anymore. Two months training is crap. That is just basic. Then you go to A.I.T.(Advanced Individual Training) That length of time depends on your job. Don't sign up for the bonus, sign up for the training and education. Be an officer. IP: Logged |

Been there, done that, BULL SHIT. Basic Training was a fuk'n blast, other than that, I couldnt deal with all of the fuk'n retards in charge. If it werent witten in crayon in a little green fuk'n book that 5yr old could read these fuck ups wouldnt even know to breath let alone blink. My opinion, its a waste of good time. Too many drug addicts, fuck ups who were allowed to go into the military instead of prison or jail, or just all out peices of shit. NOT AT ALL what I thought it would be like. If you go, then go Air Force (I went puke Army), and go technical. If you didnt test high enough to go technical, then dont go. Thats my $.02 IP: Logged |
