Getting out of that situation is the best thing you could have done.

Some people have no respect for life because they do not care whether they live or die themselves.

Having a gun pointed at you is not fun (and I have had the unfortunate pleasure of having that experience). You should just shrug it off and learn from that night.

Their life may be worthless to them but your life is priceless to you and your loved ones.

I am glad it worked out.

I'm going to drop these facts on you:

Black males age 14-24 make up less than 1% of the US population but are responsible for 26% of the homicides. Thanks guys.

To all the blacks who bitched about the Diallo shooting in NY - during mayor Giuliani's terms, crime has decreased so significantly that had it continued at the pre-Giuliani pace, 4,000 more black males would have been murdered. Yet all they do is bitch because the cops fucked up once. what about the other 3,999??

To guys like Farrakhan who call the white man the devil, or blame the white man for the black man's problems (and all the black idiots who believe it), I say this:

Yes, slavery was wrong. But that stuff is WAY over. Hundreds of years. White men didn't steal blacks from Africa, they traded for them - it used to be called "triangular trade" until the PC types came along.

You know what Farrakhan would be doing if not for slavery? He'd be wearinga loincloth, chasing giraffes with a blowgun with his fellow tribesmen.

If the white man had never gone to Africa, the black man would still be hunting anials with primitive weapons. It's what they were doing when whitey got there. Every successful black here who claims to be a descendant of slaves should thank white people.

How is Africa doing now? Hmm...well between the eternal tribal warfare (which pre-dates the white man by thousands of years) and the 70% HIV infection rate, Africa is the only continent with a higher death rate than birth rate.

Here, or there, they are killing each other. The black race needs to accept responsibilty for its problems and not blame age-old events or others. it needs real leaders (MLK, J. Jackson, etc.) not finger pointers like Farrakhan.

Flame on. I don't care. I spoke the truth.

You put a lot of words in my mouth. If you want to remember this post every time I give AS advice, that's fine. Do it.

But in review:

I didn't say blacks are causing the downfall of society. I said they are destroying themselves, both here and in Africa. Black males 14-24 really are repsonsible for over one-quarter of this country's homicides - I didn't make that up. And they are mostly killing each other. The death rate in Africa really does exceed the birth rate. That's not some bullshit propaganda - those are FACTS.

I don't think any race is superior over another - I just think that the black race needs to address its current situation in more reality - based terms. It does blacks no good to say that the institution of slavery is what destroyed black families, because that has been over for 150 years.

It does blacks no good to say that the white man stole them: it was their tribal leaders who traded them. It does blacks no good to align themselves with Farrakhan or Khalid Muhammed types who want revenge - the days of black subjugation are over.

The black community has some charismatic leaders. Jesse Jackson negotiated the release of hostages from Bosnia. White hostages no less. Mr. Jackson speaks about addressing the "digital divide" - getting more blacks trained and into IT jobs, ready for tomorrow's future. That's addressing reality, not abstract bullshit.

It's not just Jesse Jackson. Look at Alan Keyes - he was easily the most intelligent and best spoken Republican presidential candidate - the guy won every debate, just that Americans aren't ready to vote for a black President. There are many more but I am losing the point here.

FlexB, I'm all about dealing with the racism issue in an honest, no-bullshit way. I don't want to debarte a national apology for slavery, because that's just horseshit. I'm just here to throw facts out there and get responses. I'm not trying to denigrate any races.

FlexB, I hope you reconsider and do respond to this. I'm just trying to trim off the bullshit and deal with real feelings here. I'd hoped you would appreciate that.

Don't apologize. I hate when people say things like, "Oh I'm so sorry I offended you".

People are so sensitive to offending others these days. I offend people - I am pretty sure I offended Flex B.

But all I did was speak how I truly felt. The only way the racism issue can ever be truly confonted and addressed in a meaningful manner is to say what you really feel and not worry about what someone else thinks.

And to FlexB, I say this: Re-read my posts. Look at what I said. Your reaction (no more responses) bothers me. It appears as though when I say something negative about segments of the black race, the typical response is, "Well he's a racist so I won't deal with him".

I'd prefer the same sort of forthrightness from you. Maybe I will learn something - my views can be changed if LOGICAL arguments against them are made.

Your call though.
