Zeus is 7 mos old and is at 110lbs now. He's an English Mastiff and will go 200-220 like his dad. He's got a black mask to above his eyes and is brown but they call it apricot. His ears and paws are black. His paws are straight and not bowlegged or turned in or out. He's show quality with the markings and placement of ears and all but I 'm not interested in that. As even tempered a dog as you'd ever want but even at 7 mos old he's showed ferociousness thats startling. They are a fantastic dog for everything. Great disposition and good with kids. They'll defend you to the death if necessary. He's already good at placing himsef between any new person and a member of the family. Most of the guard qualities are natural for the breed. As big and bad as they are, they are very affectionate. Mine is always laying his head on my lap. Its also cool to watch people change sides of the street when they see what is in the back yard. Ours was 1000$ and some can go for 1500. It's a fairly pure breed so you shouldn't have much to worry about as far as quality. Get papers on it. Most of the people breeding are doing a responsible job and if you called and said you wanted o breed it with something else for whatever reason you'd probably get told to F.O. Get one, you won't regret it. I'll look up the Mastiff pages we have at home tonight and get them to ya. My email is [email protected] (Bull Mastiffs aren't as big as the English, I believe they only get to 165)

A friend of mine used to breed them and he charged $850. I think the females usually run a little more. The price all depends on the breeder though. Whatever you do don't buy a dog from a pet shop. They're usually imbred to begin with and they treat them like fucking cattle. They usually get up to around 100-130lbs. Females tend to be a little smaller. They come in a few colors. Red, fawn, or brindle. Except for a very small white spot on the chest. They tend to have calm temperments but watchout if you piss them off. They're tanks man. Awesome breed of dogs. They drool a lot too. Make sure you take the time to train them right cause they can be real stubborn. Oh yeah they eat like a horse. Oh yeah I'm talking about American Bull Mastiffs.

Oh as far as the weight. 100-130 lbs is the standard for show. They can get a lot heavier if you let them. Probably isn't too healthy for them but what the hell do I know I got a JRT that weighs 25lbs. He's lean though and has a lot of Bull Terrior blood in him cause of his size and squarish features. I always grew up with big dogs but this little firecracker is a badass for his size.

Zeus' dad just passed away at 9 yrs old so I think I'm going to let the guy we got our from use 'the man'. I think the going rate is like 2000+pick of the litter. I'l prob just get the boy laid. I'm kidding. I know the guy is reputable so whatever we can do to help him out. If I had a 125 lb dog I'd go with a Great Pyrennes. Mine just kicked from bone cancer last Aug. Sad fuckin day for me. Both of these dogs are great. Bad thing is the responsibility of throwing a hurt on someone. Try to get away from a 200lb dog that is serious about eating your ass. Lawsuit from hell, so we want to get him out into the public so he's cool with people, until they accidently wander into HIS turf.

Yes, the Great Pyrennes got their name from the French mountain, the Pyrennes. They are French mountain dogs. They were given to the King in Egypt in the early 1800's believe it or not. Bet that was fucking miserabl. Egypt in summer with 6 in long hair. Then someone gave some to a president about 1860's or so and they got to be the dog to have because of politics and all. As far as what I feed Zues(I better learn how to spell his goddamn name correctly), don't laugh but he gets 4 scops of Pedigree puppy food with a scoop and a half of Designer Whey. You think OUR protein farts are nasty. Anything for an animal, man. You should hear this fuckers bark. And he's only 7mos old! We picked his name because he's the King of the Gods.

Misspoke myself. They are French mountain dogs named after the Pyrennes Mountains and they were used in sheep herding. I don't think it is sheepdog blood per se as much as they were used as sheep herders. There, in english, too.

Kahn,.

I had and english mastiff when I was about 4 or 5 years old. we used to get on her back and ride her like a pony. i am sure it was not good for her, but she did not seem to mind. She was huge, i have no idea how many pounds she was. i do remember her not liking the mail man.

I though about getting another one just last year, but after doing researsh I thought it might not be good for the dog, sence I live in Dallas and it is 100 degree's here many time during the summer.

I also have 3 mini long hair dapple wiener dogs.

You can't ask for a better kid dog. They're called Gentle Giants for a reason. It wouldn't matter if you were in Alaska or Dallas, they mostly stay inside. Its wierd to me but they're a huge ass house dog. They won't stay out unless you make them. Even when they go out they hang out at the back door. Zues isn't old enough for me to know if he'll hang out in a wading pool but I'm sure that could be taught if you could put up with the wet dog snell or wash him enough.
