I looked at some old pics of the big dawgs working out in the gym and they don't wear shirts. Personally, I like working out without a shirt cuz I like to see whats going on and yes,for all the vanity. When I was working out in the early 80's, lots of us lifter's - no shirts. Slowly but surely everybody had to wear a shirt per gym rules. Where did all this all this come from?

Man that's just how scoiety is getting. No one wants offend anyone and it's all about being politically correct nowadays. It's probably because of that whole yuppie trend that has invaded the gyms in the 90's. All those spoon chested, pencil necks, don't want to seem infurior when they see all those muscles on display. These people would be forced to put themselves under the scope after seeing some of the real men training shirtless. Then they'd use their tiny little minds to rationalize it all in their head to soothe their battered ego anyway. Personally I think it's inspiring to see some huge bastards walking around the gym. Most the gyms near me suck so I choose to workout at home. Hell I could lift stark naked if I wanted to although I think i'd be going through lifting partners twice as fast as I already do.

Would you want to work out on a bench after some sweaty guy with no shirt just got up? It's all about being sanitary. I persinally think people SHOULD wear shirts or tank tops. Germs spread like wildflowers in gyms.

It is a good point indeed but I sweat like a whore in church so I always lay a towel down anyway.

By all means a towel. Two towels and a mop bucket if need to. You can sweat through any shirt for that matter. I'm talking about working out without a shirt provided you take care of the obvious sweat.

I wish the girls wouldn't wear shirts. Or pants, for that matter.

hardecore?? listen here...in my gym we arent even allowed to wear tank tops...BUT some guys do anyway..and im talking wife beaters..on skinny mofo......so ive started wearing tank tops when im doing arms, and it feels fucking great i must say...doesnt look that bad either...
but norwegian norms are very different from the ones overseas i think. here if you wear a tank top you are immediately stamped as an egomaniac....so??

Actually wearing a baggy type shirt is cool with a tank top underneath. Then, when some dude that thinks he's the shit starts walkin around you can take the shirt off after a few sets and just walk to the water bubbler. LOL That usually does it.
