You ALL need to visit Dictionary.com AND you need to buy a little book called: "The Element of Style" by Strunk and White It will help you with your grammar. Which is needed for most of you on this board. For all of you that speak English as a second language, I will be forgiving. For those of you that speak English as your primary language, the way some of you write is unforgivable!! e.g. Learn how to properly use these words: There, thier, they're too, to the list goes on and on... I don't expect you to be able to write a novel, but to express yourselves correctly that's all. IP: Logged |

I am not trying to be mean. I misspell, nistype, and don't know the spelling quite often. But I am just referring to the very obvious mistakes that are really easy to correct. I'm just amazed that these very simple words (that sound the same) are not used properly. Not by mistake, but by lack of knowledge of the correct word to use in a particular instance. Not a big deal though.... everyone smile :^> IP: Logged |

This is a board providing info on training and A/S. Why is it important those who are contributing use proper grammer. If they were turning in work, reports and papers, I am sure they would use spell check. Hey, but it is nice to know there is someone out there ready to give advise on all subject matter. Maybe you should check out the GRAMMER board, I hear it is very stimulating. Last post I read was about conjunctions. They even siad there is a cartoon and song about them, "conjunction junction, whats your function, hookin up letters and phrases and clauses" Thrilling stuff don't you think!!!!!! IP: Logged |

Thiassi....LOL I have written over 50 professionally published journal articles that have appeared in journals and magazines around the world. I have published research papers that have been used at the National Insitute of Health and the 2nd World Conference on the exchange of medical information held in Beijing China. I can remember one article I wrote which used 2 words that really aren't correctly used together technically, but are the more common words used - I had a choice of being technically correct or using the more common words that most people would understand. I chose to use the more understanable but less technically correct words. Of course some know it all dweeb wrote to the magazine complaining about how my useage of the two words was not techically correct. Luckily most people are more interested in practical issues - and the practical issue, as far as language goes, is communicating to an extent that people understand you. To be MORE concerned with the nuances of language is to be like the guy who would get silicon implants to make his body look good - looks good but it does not work (can't flex it). Most people are more concerned with the practicality - or at least that is as practical as it is beautiful. They want a muscle that looks good - but is also strong. On a parallel with language, most of us are more concerned with understanding the point someone is trying to make versus the prose they compose their posts with. A persons lack of technical syntax skills by no means negates their valuable knowledge. If I wanted to learn about cars, I would not require a mechanic to elucidate in pure iambic pentameter - if he just could simply get me to understand how to change my power steering I would be happy. We are all here for the gold, not just what glitters. So I think your criticism is innappropriate. DO we need to vote.... would we rather have well written posts that do not make a point, or is it better to make a point even if the grammar sucks? Its my feeling that a hot looking car with a bad engine is of no use to me. Give me a rusted out junker that has some real power. I don't care how it looks as much as how it runs. Keep the educational, funny and poorly written posts coming. [This message has been edited by NoviceJuicer (edited May 31, 2000).] IP: Logged |

Ok.. I know I am asking for flames here.. but.. I do partially side with lorenzo. Nobody here should be judged, and nobody said you had to be articulate by any means, but, everyone should strive for **basic** english grammer.... I use multiple '.....' after every sentence, and sometimes spell words wrong, but when you reply to messages with "your a fag" as a rebuttal and don't follow **basic** english rules (assuming your not an ESL student), it reflects that way to other people. There is a reason why most of the US (Canada isn't as lowly rated, but still down there) is almost rated the lowest out of most countries for basic educational skills. This by no means is not a shot at the US or BB'ers, but, please see what lorenzo's basic point is. If you can work so hard to improve your body, you can look at it positively and do the same for your mind. Just look at it that way... if you still think I (we) are full of it.. feel free to flame on.. just trying to help. IP: Logged |

Thanks Whammo. That's basically what I was trying to say. I love bodybuilding. Have been training for 8 years, using AS for 5 years, and competing for 5 years. I think that the info shared here is very important to us all... all of the opinions are valued no matter how crazy they might be. It gives you a different perspective, although you may not agree. The thing here is that we take the opinion of someone that we do not know, and treat it as gold...maybe because they post a lot of have become popular because they spend all day on these boards.. I do not spend my life on these boards... I work, I train, I have a life. If you all saw me in person you would not be calling me the things you are calling and saying the things you are saying.. I guarantee that. But you have your protection by being on the other side of a computer screen so you feel comfortable saying anything that you feel... which is fine. But any of you are welcome to come visit me any time you like. I live in the D.C. area..... let me know FlexB--- you are welcome too. I don't hate you even though you seem to be a very angry person. Lorenzo and Whammo, you guys crack me up! I don't want to flame here, but I don't think you're in a position to judge others here when your own writing skills are not exactly perfect. We all have room for improvement, I agree, but then again, who the fuck cares about it on this board? No one here should be judged on that anyway. I'm going to use a rough analogy here so please don't give me shit: When you come home after a rad workout at the gym, do you put on your best suit and tie to relax and read? Probably not. No one here is trying impress others; so just relax and enjoy what other people have to say, no matter how horrible their spelling or grammar may seem to you. Peace PS BTW, spelling ability has nothing to do with intelligence. A friend of mine has an IQ of 185 and can't spell shit b/c he's dyslexic. P.S. IF you do come to Dallas and still want to do the $500.00 thing please let me know 16weeks ahead of time. I need to start the a-50, anvar, and sus + Halo, fina, water base T before you come. I have trained with him several times and all of you who are calling him a 15 year old, really should stop. He is probably one of the strongest people I have ever meet and very well built, I would not challenge him to a strength contest if I was you. I told Lorenzo how much I liked this board and recommended it to him and he comes along and posts some constructive criticism on the chat & conversation board not the Anabolic board, and you bros jump all over him. What if any of you had to write a resume it would be helpful to use proper grammar,(not that I am perfect, nor do I clam to be). He is just trying to help some of you out a little. I hope you all do not treat everyone with this much hatred. Sorry I told you to come here Lorenzo!!! ------------------ IP: Logged |

You people just don't get it. If we were writing a resume I'm sure we would all have enough sense to use a dictionary or word processing software with a spellcheck. I've taken weeks to put together a resume to get it just right and I sometimes spend days putting together business letters to make sure they are as close to perfection as I am capable of writing. What you don't seem to have the abilty to comprehend is that a lot of us come here to get away from all that bullshit. We come here to relax, have a little fun and share our experience about training and AS. Nobody is here to be chastised for our use/abuse of the english language. I spent several months reading other people's posts and using the search engine before I felt I had anything marginally worthy of posting myself. For your buddy lorenzo to come here as a newbie to the board and have the arrogance to judge us on our grammar is in his words "unforgivable". I don't care how much he weighs or squats or benches or deadlifts. And I don't give a FUCK whether or not I meet with his approval. I doubt if anyone else here does either.

Anyway, I really like to new format and most of the people here. But I just wanted to make a small point, but some people have become offended or whatever and that's fine. Life will go on for us all. Lap dancing ain't all they do! hehehehe And we got totally nude clubs. I'll say it again I love ladies. You sure of confident. Guess 611 sound weak to you. Well like I said before give me 16 weeks so I can go through my a-50, sus, and anvar cycle and then the halo, fina, and water based T cycle. That should take me up another 100 or so. By the way, be honest what do you squat for a single. I do not do leg presses, but I am converting from powerliftin to BB. I took an eight year layoff and just started back about 7months ago. Muscle memory is true. I have only done one cycle and am close to what I maxed when I was 20(eight years ago). The big difference is I am 250lbs now instead of a rock hard 198lbs. Started at 275lbs 7months ago. Got a 32in waste now, but still have a little belly. Should be gone by the end of summer. Not interested in hitting a hard diet and losing some strength. I got a mental problem with getting weaker. out of here for the night. [This message has been edited by Checkmatebloated (edited May 31, 2000).] IP: Logged |
