I've noticed that some of you guys don't like rubber coated weights. What's wrong with em'? One of the gyms I work out at has them people seem to like them.....I mean rubber coated or plain...it's all the same weight in the end right? Is it not "hardcore" enough? Please school me.

I hate those coated weights. One of the gyms I worked out at last year had them, and I don't know why but I just didn't like them.

I use the 45lb black rubber coated ones when I do power cleans or deadlifts, so that I dont accidently crack the floor but other than those I dont use any rubber weights .........

I HATE THEM WITH A PASSION, ESPECIALLY THE DUMBELLS, THEY'RE JUST TOO DAMN BIG, AND WHERE IS MY CLINK WHEN I TOUCH THE WEIGHTS??? WHEN I'M BENCHING I LIKE TO HEAR THOSE PLATES RING OUT, YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, THAT NICE RATTLE OF THE PLATES THAT LETS EVERYONE KNOW THERE IS A MAN AT WORK!

The biggest problem with them is the weights are inconsistent. Especially the 45's sometimes I add a 2 1/2 to one side to even them out.
Also until the rubber wears off around the hole they are a pain in the ass to get on and off the bar. Plus like E2 said you can't HEAR them.
