Beastmaster, it's good to know that there are other bbers who go to school full time. Right now, I'm reading Jakob Burkhardt's The Civilization of Renaissance in Florence; since history is my passion, I'm hoping on eventually getting my Ph.D. in this field. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hey johnny 1111, Hunter S. Thompson is pure fucking genius. What did you think of the film adaptation of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas? Although it was not as good as the book, I thought Johnny Depp was pretty damn good. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Wow, HST is by far my favorite author! I just got finished with The Proud Highway. He is releasing a book in July and two in November, one of which is an autobio. I have read everything by him, even Lono. If you guys have ever seen him in person or on TV, Johnny Depp acted and talked exactly like him. BTW, I am also a history major and hope to get my PhD in this field. I have also read BEE's and Chuck's books, I love that negative, anti-Gap mentality. IP: Logged |

I like the Corps series too. Other war books like Body Count, Sand in the Wind are good. Anything and everything by Hemingway. Being from New Orleans I really liked Confederacy of Dunces. It had me laughing out loud. Re: history, Steven Ambrose is a very good author. Mostly writes about military history, WWII battles and military leaders. Pattons "War as I Knew It" was awesome. Also at the top of my list (read it three times so far) is MARINE:The Life of Chesty Pullar". Talk about a motivated, dedicated son-of-a-bitch!! IP: Logged |

i've read all of steven king and anne rice. kings best series is the gunslinger. (fantacy) then i read an artical in the paper titled "100 greatest 20-th century english-language novles" and realized i've read less than 10% of them. so that's what i'm doing now. it'll take forever but i'm gonna do it. favorite author: Poe [This message has been edited by XXXL (edited May 23, 2000).] IP: Logged |

I love the Rougue Warrior books by Marchinko. Also I am a big fan of the pulp fiction novels with Mack Bolan, Phoenix Force and Able Team. I once wrote Remy Harlin about making a movie based on the books, but they sent me back a bullshit letter saying they weren'y interested. My wife says I won't read a book unless it has a gun on the cover. IP: Logged |

Marcinko is the man, he has a great way of telling a story. I have read everyone of his books. Every book on Vietnam I can get my hands on, love personal accounts of any war. And will read any book on war. I read the Code of Federal Regs, like it was my life depending on it. If you know the law some ass wipe can't bullshit you. I read everything on guns and knives I can get my hands on. And lately I have been reading everything on AS and BB I can find. At work all they say I do is read. I figure right know I'm reading well over 10 hours a day. Never watch tv, that craps just mess up your mind. It makes it so people don't question or think for themselves. If you see it or hear it on tv must be true - Bullshit!!!!! I question everything. IP: Logged |

Demo Dick Marcinko - he is the man. Read 'em all, and waiting for the next one! Stephen Hunter - if you're into long range sniping, he's the man. IP: Logged |
