It has been two years since my dog Vinny a pitbull that was killed in a kennel i put him in when i went on vacation. They put him in a cage without a top and he jumped out and caught his collar and it hung him. I told the bitch to keep him in one with a top, but she didnt listen.

Point is i still cant bring myself to get another dog. That bastard was my best friend and even after beating that bitch half to death i still cant get that shit out of my head. I am i just a weirdo or is this normal. I have still have dreams about when i beat that lady up, taking him to the kennel, everything at leasted once a week.

So to the people that have lost pets that where close to them how long did it take to get over the whole situation. I am slowly going crazy here i think.

I know how ya feel. You may never get over it. A lot of people won't understand what a pet can mean to someone, but I do. Sorry Bro.

well bro my mom taught me never hit a lady and i never would. But yeah i beat the shit out of this bitch. If it had been a mistake i would have let it slide, but i told her dont put him in a cage with no top he will jump out. Losing that dog was the hardest shit i have ever had to deal with. I have lost 2 best friends in car and motorcycle wrecks and they didnt even compare to this. That dog slept in the same bed with me for 3 years and I just lost it when he died. I am not proud of beating up a girl it was a real low point in a already fucked up situation. She deserved it by all means though and i would do it again.

I don't blame you for what you did to that stupid girl. Some people just don't listen.

The best thing you can do bro. is get another pet. I went through the same thing and I know the last thing you want is a dog that can't possibly replace Vinnie. But even though he can't be replaced you can have a friendship with another pet. He will have his own personality and will love you unconditionally just like Vinnie did.

Good luck bro. I feel for you.

I lost a dog about 5 years ago and man you realy never get over them. My half pit half shepard is realy starting to show his age and this old boy ain't ready to lose him. I used to never worry about anything around the house at night. Figure shit if the dog gets up then go blast the ass. But shit I don't think he can even hear to good any more. I'm hoping that he passes in his sleep.
When I put my last dog down what a mess. I came close to hitting a lady. The dog went blind and they could never tell me why.At first it was working out but, after a while you tell she couldn't deal with it. Blond lab - so we go to put her down, perfectly healthy other than she couldn't see. They stick the IV in her arm about a hundred times trying to find a vien. I'm crying and shit trying to hold her down and keep together. The lady figures out she needs a small needle and finally after about twenty try's get the vien. She sits there let my dog blood run all over the table and try's to attach the tube with stuff and can't. She needs a smaller tube to attach to the smaller needle. DUUHHHH well my dog is now totally laying in a pool of her own blood and is not taking it to good. I'm yell at the top of my lung for this bitch to get it together - shes digging in the cabinet trying to find the tube. Finally I reach down and pinch off her vein about three inches behind the needle. The vet freaks out, yelling that I'm going to poke the needle back thru her arm. I tell the lady , look i came to put my dog down not kill her, get your shit together. Finally the lady attaches the tube and let the stuff go and my dog was gone in about 5 seconds. What a fuked up way to end your life. My wife who watched this whole thin was totally messed for about a week. She would just think of it and burst out crying. Totally sucked will never forget it. I looked like I had been to war - blood all over me.

Moe go out and search for the best dam dog you can find. I know its fuked up, but they have a way of making things better. You'll never forget the other but it helps you move on.

I have went out and looked at some pups but the whole time I am thinking of how hard it is going to be to lose another one. And damn cleaner hearing your story, man that is fucked up. I think getting another one would help, maybe i will try again in a few months. thanks again.

Hey Cleaner, what a fucked situation on the loss of your faithful friend, however your vet did you a big WRONG, I hope they didn't bill you for the service, if thats what they call it. I too have lost pets and had to put them down, if it's any help, remember every thing we have in life is a gift and we only get to keep it for a short while, so we have to let go and give it back to one who gave us the gift in the first place. Moe, I know your pain, The good lord has a new friend for you out there, I have said the same thing, no more pets, but we do not do this thing we call life well alone and unloved, there is a pup out there that needs you, go find him or her, time will heal all wounds bro. My condolences...

You know at the time I didn't even think about it. Wanted to get my dogs ashes and they wanted extra money to have her done along. I was like fuk the money she deserves to be anlone and I don't care how much. Other wise they do a group of dogs and give you the mix - fuk that!!! Shes above the fire place now - still part of the family.
I do remember people in the waiting room freaking when they saw the blood all over my hands - I didn't even wash up. Squared her away, got the paper work and walked.

I don't know if that was the case at your place but, I had to pay an extra $75.00 to get he done alone. It was like 125 group and 200 alone. I was played out that they would even ask me. I guess there are alot of people who don't care. Thats the way it was at my place.

well they paid like 450 to do vinny so maybe they will live to see another day!lol The fucked up thing about florida is when i took them to court they only gave me $350 for the price of a new dog. They dont give you any money here for feeling fucked up over losing your best friend. $350 goddamn dollars for a animal that would have died for me. Man what a fucked up place.

I'm with you, my girlfriend almost broke up with me when I told her the only person I ever loved was my dog. Some people just don't understand the bond that can develope. My dog was there for me when I would come home and lie in the floor from drinking too much, she would lie in front of me and push her back against my chest and I would hug her soo tight. She was a boxer that died about five years ago. Shit, I think I'm about to cry.

I had to put my female rott down about 3 years ago do to addisons desies(sp). It is a hormonal problem that acually causes the animals system to stop producing ALL hormones. She acted REALLY down in the dumps for about a week before I finally took her in. At the time money was tight and do to her size, about 105lbs, it would have cost me $350.00 a month for hormone treatments for the rest of her life. I could not justify spending $50,000+ for her, so I made the hardest decision I have made in my life to date.

Anyway, my story is alot like cleaners just without the blood. The vet gave her to much seditive before the injection and her blood pressure droped so low he could not get the needle in a vain. So there I am sitting on the floor balling my eyes out with my dog barely breathing, because of the seditive, watching this idiot poke this needle into her leg about 65 times. He finally got it into her leg, and as God is my wittness, she smiled at me right at the moment she passed. My wife swears she was telling me it was allright. I personally don't know if it was.

No man, you never get over it. It just hurts a little less every day.

I called the breeder about a week later to let her know what happened, and it turned out she had one 8 week old male left out of a recent litter. So I know have a 120lbs male rott named Dylan. He and my pitt are the best of friends.

If you have the time for one, get another dog. It is well worth it. They will never replace, but will definately fill the void with a whole new personality.

In loving memory of Simba.

Guys, i'm really sorry to hear about your dogs and these idiotic vets. I'll tell you, if you can, next time if you ever have to put your dog down, do this.

Take them out for a nice walk in the woods, while they're walking beside you, take out a handgun and shoot them in the back of the head. I know it may sound mean, but it's very very quick and as far as i'm concerned they never know what hit them, i like to think that they were happy, going for a nice walk and that they left without ever knowing what was coming, or being scared of what might be coming. I mean being in that vets office isn't very nice in my eyes.

Yeah, wanted to take her down to the farm and do that, but the wife wasn't going for it. Seemed an easy thing to me. I have killed alot of animals, seeing that my grandfather owned a pig and cattle farm. But the girls just don't think that the right thing to do. I always figured she was my dog that made her my responsibility.

Moe has read my posts in another thread that also deals with dogs, but in a different way.

Moe, I know you love pit bulls, and there are tons of them in shelters and bad homes that desperately need to be rescued and loved. Why not work through your sadness by giving an old dog a new lease on life? I did it, and it changed my whole life.

By the way, if and when I lose my dog, I'll feel just as bad as you, so don't ever think you're overreacting. But move on, because you have to, and you have no other choice.

yeah thats no shit ed. I was thinking about that myself. My last dogs where all bought from breeders that are big in the fight world. I dont really agree with what they do and I think it has a lasting impact on the animals. So i kind of feel like I am saving them from a life that isnt all that great. It may cost me 1500 for a pup, but it is worth it when you see how happy the dog is as an adult compared to the rest of the family.

I have a friend who I was visiting tonight, I played with their puppy about ten minutes before in the backyard, and then the wife called out frantically for her husband and we both came charging into the house to find out what she was freaking out about, and the dog is having a seizure full blown, the only thing we can figure out is that she dug up an old bag of spoiled bagels and ate some of it and went into full neurological colapse, hell they took the dog to an Pet ER and it took 45 milligrams of valium and the dog would not stop seizing, so they had to knock her completely out, we hope she is going to make it, I have never seen such a toxic reaction in my life, five minutes earier and she was a happy puppy, then deathly ill. Just watch out for what dogs dig up after it's been in the ground for a while, either that or some neihbor is going to get his fucking ass kicked if he threw something bad over the fence. You just don't feed someones pet poisan, I'd fucking feed him some of his own shit if I find out he did this...I hate assholes who don't like animals. They offer so much and take so little, some of my best friends are furry....My cat is a full blooded Bobcat, lynx rufus, and that is not bullshit, she's twelve years old and my buddy. I have pictures to prove it..

moe.. I can't believe that absolution bullshit about the $350. If someone just killed your brother or sister, how much would you get for a replacement one? IT'S NO DIFFERENT. Just because you can buy a dog at a store, doesn't mean that's all they are worth. If that's the case, why don't we just figure out what a male or female slave used to cost, and just add inflation. So when your siblings get killed, the murderer just pays that cost - and THAT'S IT, right guys? Fuqing gov't, no value of life.. just $$$... I would have beaten the shit out of the judge as well!!!

yeah i thought that was bullshit to. that is why I ended up turning the money down right there in court. I told the judge it had nothing to do with money it was the fact that they took something from me that couldnt be replaced. Then I turned to the dude and said send me that 350 dollar check and make me bring it back to ya. The judge got pissed and ruled no money awarded. I laughed and walked out. Fuck I hate this system. PS florida sucks!

Fuck I hate reading this I had someone run over my Sorrel (pitbull) female when I was 9 on purpose because of ignorance to the breed. Luckily I was at school or I swear that person would be dead today. I lost my second rednose female to old age when I was 15. Then last May I had to put down a dog I had for 15 years he was a Collie chow mix. I swear I would rather have a few supposed friends die than see a good loyal dog go!!!!

You need to get another pet! NOW!!
It doesn't mean you will forget "Vinny," but it will definately allow you to let Vinny RIP. Look on the bright side, if there is one, you could end up making a new best friend, and another pup very happy in life.

Just my opinion, Good Luck with whatever you do.

Cleaner, your situation was an atrosity. Im suprised their were no civil actions taken against the vet. I say this, fuck with me, and i forget, fuck with my familey or my pet, then we got issues.
