Loud Music (no techno crap).
Dunbells 150lbs and over.
Lifting platforms.
No aerobics, pool, sauna, or daycare.
Chalk.
Showers you would not want to use even if they worked.
The owner's dog walking around.
Carpet remanants on a otherwise cement floor.
Mirrors everywhere.
Trophies.
Air conditioning that always breaks down.
Motorcycles parked out front.
Old issues of IRON MAN (the "small" type) lying around.
Liberal use of profanity.
No rubber-coated weights.
An owner who asks you to answer the phone when he leaves.
Members who greet you when you come in, and are really glad to see you and help you.

any others.......

Amen!!!!

I used to train in a place on the south side of Atlanta. What a great setup. Just like you described, minus the dog. Gear was no problem, although at the time I was natural. Poor guy that ran it, was too nice about people being late on paying dues, so now he is out of business.

Thats the problem nothing in life is free.
I belong to a gym that matched that to tee.
The guy was way to nice and a ton of people took advantage of that. Now the best gym this town ever saw or had is gone.
Good gym are hard to find and tuffer to keep.

a 200 dollars gift certificate towards gear of your chose, for joining and/or renewal of your membership and weekly raffals for gears of the weeks. That would be a nice way to retain memebers don't you think!

Any decent gym should have a little room in the back, a little something my friends and I call "the jiz palace". The gnarliest of gymrats should have their way with all the skanks at the gym there.

I'd sell my sole for a posing room with some good lighting (and no condoms).

An old x powerlifter that greets everyone
coming or leaving thru the front door.

An owner who will give you the key & tell you
to lock up when your done.

A punching bag in the back

hey batman...you made me laugh...actually the posing room would usually be used for those reasons other then posing after hours...by employees with keys, or members of the key club( had keys to train whenever)...
