It sucks.. but it's a joke (physically).

They have toned it down a lot from what I've heard. Just remember it's a mental game, and just do what they say. You will fuck up and so will other people. They are there to treat you like shit... so get used to it. Service week sucks ass if you get assigned to the galley!! I know cuz, I was there bro!

Oh yeah, don't have anyone send shit to you- ie: candy, food, etc.

When you get out of bootcamp... you'll hate the QUARTERDECK!! Hahaha..

Anyways it's really easy, just keep your head up and remember its just a few weeks.

Basically it's a mind game man. You'll get beat (doing pushups, 8 count bodybulders.. you name it).. if you're lucky, you'll find out first hand on how to make it rain- and you'll fear the words.. "Abandon ship!"

I did boot at Lackland in the Air Force, it really wasn't too bad.......but they did have the corps right next to us......I must admit I was damn glad I was AF. Those guys got f*cked with constantly. My advice would be not to ask "stupid questions", keep your mouth shut and it will be alot easier on you. Good luck bro.

I went through Air Focre Basic Training back in 91. It was rough the first 2 weeks but after that it was pretty easy. I just wasn't used to anyone yelling at me like that so it took me those 2 weeks to adapt. I eventually became "Dorm Chief" which made it a lot easier for me. I didn't have to do any extra details. My job was to keep my flight in check when the TI (Training Instructor) was away. I'm going to TI school next year to be an instructor myself. The obstacle course was a joke!! I wanted to go through it twice but they wouldn't let me! That's my Air Force Basic Training Experience.

Can't give any advise on the Navy, but I went through Air Force basic training in '87 and yes it was a joke.

You'll get yelled at a lot, so keep quiet. The less they notice you the better. Do what they ask and ask no questions. You'll be fine.

The whole purpose of basic is to teach you to follow directions and teamwork. Yes, I remember folding underwear and t-shirts in perfect little squares and wondering why the hell are we doing this? The point is to teach you to follow directions to the T. Teamwork comes into play when you do drill and such.

Don't sweat the physical stuff, it is a piece of cake unless you're going Marines. Then get ready to run!
