I was at the gym a few days ago deadlifting - when this brainless fuck wad decided to turf my area and walked right into my bar. Thank god it was only about an inch above my knee or I would have been completely fucked. Had 340 on the bar and already had one set of 8 done - was on the fifth rep when Mr. Assvapor walked right to the side of me and cause me to lose my grip - My right side took most of the damage - I didn't want to drop the bar because of my feet and the two guys that were training with me. His response was "I wanted to put my water by the wall." Now, I was in the back of the gym - away from everyone with plenty of room for him to pass - at least 15 feet on either side of me. Needless to say I was in a ton of pain but still beat the shit out of him. Long story short, I got thrown out of the gym for good. Spent six hours at the ER - my shoulder is still inflamed and I only have about 50 % of my use. Has anyone out there had any should injuries that have prevented them from deadlifting? I've had shoulder injuries from benching, military pressing and football, but not deadlifting. I've hurt my back deadliffting a few times, so now I only do stifflegged ones. What did they say was injured? Rotator cuff, nerve damage? I once seperated my shoulder and it took about a month to heal, then anothe rmonth to regain my strength.... ![]() ![]() ![]() | ||

I had to purchase my own rubber weights to deadlift at bally's. One day I come in and my rack of 600lbs of rubber weights are gone. I ask them where they are. They gave them to a highschool along with some of their older equipement, because they are getting ready to put in some new stuff. I paid about $250.00 for all the rubber. Well they ended up cutting me a check for about $300.00, because that was replacement cost at that time. I would have beat that guy!!!!! I'm glad you desided to take it into your own hands. First re the deadlifting weight: daaamn! That's a shitload of weight for a chick! Count me impressed (and marginally disturbed). Never before heard of a deadlifting shoulder injury; sorry to hear it now. What the hell is a no-deadlifting gym??? Like someone else said, I deadlift a Bally's! If you hadn't hauled off and killed this guy (I'm glad you did, don't get me wrong), you could've sued his ass for major $$. Tough case, but winnable. I'd take it. ![]() ![]() ![]() | ||

Agree burndaddy... Shrelby you probably have a strain rather than a tear. You'll need to let it recover over about a three week period. Once you've healed don't go right back to the weight you left off with, because your tendons will still be week. You'll need to build strength up in them first with volume work. burndaddy has used ibuprofin with alot of success, 2 tabs every hours for about a weak worked great for me, oh yeah keep h2o intake high as ibuprofin can be hard on you kidneys... ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ||

never tried it, dont like dmso smells bad and leaves a bad taste in my mouth, if you do use dmso make sure to clean you skin well as dmso is a solvent and could transmit impurites into you system... have used aspercreme though but it didnt work for shit... believe it or not a small amounts of alcohal ie: 2-4 glasses of wine or a couple of shots of good whiskey with 800mg ibuprofin/motrin works wonders. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ||

Shrebly -- that happened to me on one occassion. Almost the exact same scenario -- guy walked right into the corner of my bar causing the weight to drift away from my left leg. However, I just dropped the thing and got the hell out of its way. Of course everbody looked when the weights hit the floor. I started screaming at the guy informing him of what a complete dumbass he was. To this day, I have never seen him the gym again. However, I got lucky -- just some minor inflamation in my back which I still get to this day, but nothing I can't deal with. ![]() ![]() ![]() | ||
