After engaging in a conversation with some friends over bikinis and thong swimwear on women VS men, I wanted to ring in here to get some point of views.

I've talked to several people that have either been to or lived in European countries where the beaches are pretty much anything goes and nobody cares. You walk around nude, nobody cares. Actually, someone told me that some of the beaches that are nude, if you wear clothing of any sort, you're looked at kind of weird.

Which brings me to this. I've finally achieved a muscular physique that I feel comfortable wearing next to nothing on a beach. I live in the midatlantic area and the beaches here are much more uptight and restrictive than beaches in Florida. I vacationed several times in Florida and it really wasn't nothing when I wore a thong there. There were alot of people (guys and girls)wearing them. Wear one up here, and people think you're either gross, disgusting, weird or gay (if you're a guy). No, i'm not gay. I think people just need to lighten up. It's the human body for christ sake. There's nothing wrong with showing some skin, especially if you have the bod for it.

It's been my experience that people who bash others (especially men) for wearing bikinis or thongs on beaches are usually the ones that have a horrible body and would look hideous in anything less that sweat pants and a sweat shirt.

Please for the love of god, tell me you are not trying to justify men in thong swimsuits.

Supersize,

Go back to the last paragraph in my original posting. Yeah, I am justifying it. You got the bod, show it off!

I bust my ass in the gym and with every other aspect of my training and diet. Why the hell do I want to lay on a beach and get a stupid looking tan that starts at the waist and ends mid thigh? Screw those damn boxer shorts. I have nothing to be ashamed of. I'm proud of my accomplishment and i've earned it!. Actually, some of the ladies I was on the beach with didn't seem to mind.

Homie, no offense, it's just so wrong on every level of being a man. Yes I agree it is nice to show off hard work but there's a certain boundary you don't want to overstep.
You know how sometimes you go to a club and you see the guy who obviously works out and he's wearing a shirt that's so tight it looks like he is just wearing latex paint and the sleeves are like 3 inches long and half of the bicep is hanging out? You expect this guy to be bobbing his head singing What is Love Baby Don't Hurt Me. These people are made fun of and they look ridiculous in spite of the fact that they may be ripped.
I think thongs on a guy is just flat out bad taste. Have you ever once heard/seen a female swoon over a guy in a thong? If anything they laugh at it. Plus that as a guy, I have an inherent problem with anything going up my ass like that.

No offense taken. The only reason I prefer to wear one is that I normally tan in a tanning bed, so when I go to the beach and tan, I don't want that F-ed up look of having tan lines down to my mid thigh and waist, when I've spent so much money in tanning salons. It's all about the look for me. I'm not looking to prance around to show my schlong and butt off to people. Not my intention nor style at all. Just after the look.

Actually, there was a big article in USA Today about 2 weeks ago. There's been an explosion in the amount of men buying and wearing thong underwear recently. Not only gay men, but from all walks of life. Personally, it gets a bit uncomfortable after awhile on the beach in one, so it's boxer undies for me. AND NO PAINTED ON LATEX LOOKING SHIRTS EITHER. Too uncomfortable also.

We're all entitled to our opinion. That's America!

Be cool and be HUGE!

I gotta agree on the thong thing.
I don't want to see a butt hanging out unless it's a nude beach.
But I also agree you can wear something more revealing than baggy shorts.
I say on a public non-nude beach a great bod could wear speedos.

Does anybody still wear cut-off jeans to the beach,
or is that just a retro-hippy Austin thing?
You still see that here and I like it.

wow i had no idea there is a big male thong boom going on. i'm white as a ghost as my skin doesn't tan, it burns, so that adds to my bias against male thongs because i know if i put one on i would be blinding people left and right.

i think you need some females responding to this thread. it's all about them anyways

Hey, I got nothing against men in thongs, to each his own. The problem is that a hardbody female at the beach in a thong is the center of attention, a hardbody guy in a thong is the center of ridicule. Fact is chicks don't dig guys in thongs, not my bias just the facts. So I gotta go with a fat negative on this one. Galen
