Whether the final outcome of November's election debacle left you a) jumping up and down with glee or b) swallowing hard and looking over your shoulder, yer old pal Jerky figures it is your right to know exactly how the man who currently resides in the White House was elected. These are the undisputed facts: Florida Governor Jeb Bush and his Secretary of State, Katherine Harris, ordered local elections supervisors to purge 64,000 voters from voter lists on the grounds that they were felons who were not entitled to vote in Florida. The only problem was, the vast majority of the people on that list weren't felons. About half of them were Black, the rest were Hispanic and Caucasian, and they were almost all Democrats� but they weren't felons. The Texas company that compiled the list somehow accidentally "fucked up" in a way that benefited Bush. Now, what this means is, basically, even if you discount every claim of police harassment in black communities, and even if say "tough shit" to all those people who accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan in Palm Beach thanks to a flawed ballot design, and even if you use the first, flawed, machine-count tallies of the vote� Bush STILL had to cheat to win! Of course, the news that an American election had been, in effect, STOLEN, was huge. It landed at the top of the TV news cycle, and the day after the story broke, it hit the front pages of all the major dailies� in Europe. But not here for some reason. Interesting. Should we go back and investigate every election for questionable behavior? Do a few exorcisms and talk to JFK? Or change the system? Interesting to see if our elected "leaders" will do anything. | ||

Do I believe after ever little election nuance was talked and debated to death for weeks that 64,000 voters were systematically denied a vote? Why did they cover every damn aspect to death but left 64,000 people uncovered? Shit, the one lady who was shown on CNN for days who testified in front of some court or committee, said she felt threatened because cops were at the voting station. One lady doesn't like cops outside her polling station and makes the news for days, but 64,000 voters are not allowed to vote and there is no coverage? I call bullshit. | ||

Your flat out wrong. It was a private agency that screwed up taking peoples names off of the voting list for felonies. The State of Florida enacted this so that felons that were recently convicted could not vote. You act like Harris and Jeb sat in an office crossing off the names themselves... | ||

sure it Affects me... but thats the world I live in. SS, Medicare goes to those who need help, for the most part. Taxes goes to roads, military, etc. etc. etc. That doesnt bother me one iota. My point was, their investigation is wrong. A private company was hired to save tax $ and screwed up the list. Jeb Bush never took anyones name off of a list. I don't know why you get your info from a bunch of nut's. Their are plenty of good political shows out their like Hardball with Chris Matthews on MSNBC. If this reporter was worth his salt and followed up on his stories he would have gotten his story straight. Feeding people garbage is in by no means doing anybody any good. | ||

I mentioned last week a USA today story via yahoo anounced through their counting standards bush would have won It's over with now and wouldn't matter anyway.
