I play. I'd say I'm average. The key is to be able to think five or six moves ahead and arrange combinations that either give you a material advantage or a positional advantage. Yahoo! has a good, live chess program that allows you the ability to play against a variety of skill levels. | ||

I used to play an old chess computer game that highlighted where each piece could move...Didn't take much though but was alot of fun. I would consider myself an average to crappy chess player...I won a few games on yahoo but those people stunk it up like me | ||

Hey, that's cool Moderator...I'm gonna try that site out. i want to get better, but I don't have that type of thought pattern....ironically, its the way I am in everything. Just get from one rock to the other...dont look too far ahead cause you'll get lost and discouraged. LOL... Its all my moms fault..she always told me "one day at a time" LOL... | ||

Your opening also is extremely important. You want to develop your pieces and not lose the positional advantage of the center of the board. | ||

LOL at Moderator.  My problem is, I'll plan it all out and then I can't figure out what the other guy is doing, then I get all screwed up and go great guns, lose 3/4 of my men and wind up having to do a "last stand"...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. | ||
