I am taking this week off due to a ligament strain under my right arm that connects the lats to the shoulder plus I need a week off. I have found that when I come back from a week off I feel completely rejuvenated and a bit stronger in the joint category. What are your results from a week off?
Also, I always train legs, legs never get an off week. peace

I always take off from Fri thru the 2nd Mon (10 days) after that every 8-10 weeks. Always seem to be at least as strong, if not stronger. Seems as though I always overtrain to some degree.

Havoc, yes, all is maintained. 1 week off does wonders, for ME. I truely beleive EVERYONE is different. My joints feel better, I feel rested and Ive always come back stronger. I also take 2 weeks off every 6 mths. or so. (every 3rd 8 week rotation) Thats when I can actually see some growth. This is what works for sir...

I always take one complete week off after every 6 weeks of training. As you said, I feel completely rejuvenated after a week of doing nothing but recovering. Haven't had my strength or size diminished over those individual weeks either.

Oh yeah, legs get the week off too. Once you throw a leg workout in there, the "total recovery" aspect is gone.

i haven't taken any time off in quite some time. i have missed two workouts this year due to illness and i kind of look at that as time off. i have been making steady progress this year (up 9lbs) and haven't really felt the need to take some time off. my joints would probably disagree with that statement but i don't want to fuck up a good run of progress. If i'm still gaining steadily i don't feel the need to slow down.
Sometimes I look at "time off" as taking time off my diet. I have noticed that when I stagnate with my gains and I'm still putting back all the right calories I think I should get, I'll slack up on my diet and it seems to fix my problem every time. By slacking up on my diet I mean not getting enough food down my throat, that's always my biggest problem is making sure I get at least 6 meals in a day. This is usually the hardest for me on the weekend. after i slack up on my diet i may lose a couple pounds but then i'm back eating like a horse and i gain those 2 lbs back plus more. i'm rambling.
taking time off from either training or diet has always been a good thing.

I take off when my body tells me.
I get better at listening to its needs all the time.
I do feel I come back stronger and better.
Last year I will tell you I only took two breaks. One for three weeks because of the cut to my hand.

MammaKin....nice name!

I also take a week off every 2 months or so. If I go on longer it just feels like it gets harder and harder to get through the workouts. I just stated this not too long ago and so far every time I have come back from the week break a lot stronger and more focused.

peace

Only when I get sick, I know I should do it more often. The reason I don't is that I blow my diet when I stop training. Then, getting back up to par is a hassle.

Every week, lately. I've got to get my ass back in gear. Coming back to the boards is a good first step, it's getting me motivated. Now I just have to deal with all bros at the gym who are going to give me shit for being away for the last couple of months.

I am taking a next week off for the first time since February of last year. Last week, I slept about a total of 80 hours. That was my body telling me that I definitely needed a break cause I was wearing myself down. I'm so looking forward to it!!!

I get such a guilt trip if I go more than five days without lifting. I'm obsessive, but it helps me deal with my day-to-day stresses better. I usually feel like shit when I've gone very long without pumping iron.

Since I started lifting 6 years ago I've never taken time off. I believe people when they say the body benefits from the rest, but I hate working out and if I didn't force myself to go every day, I'm not sure I'd go at all.
