I'm getting sick of this. Granted, I've been sick 2x this month and 1/2, but I've been able to steadily take in close to 6000 calories a day. AND I weighed myself this morning, I weigh less than 1 lb. more than I weighed last month. What I don't get though, is that I look bigger in the mirror...but when people say "go by the mirror, not the scale" that makes no sense. If I was bigger, I'd weigh more, pretty simple..

if your losing body fat, the transition of muscle is keeping your weight the same! don't fret it! ------------------ "I'll kill you and your dreams, then begin you life" dracula 2000

Why would I be losing bf at 6000/day though..you know?

Actually you should be gaining weight at 6k a day. Do you have a hyperactive thyroid or are you taking any type of ADD or ADHD meds because those will further up your met rate.

Freak daddy nailed it. There's a lot of internal body fat that you don't see easily. And it's weight/volume ratio is different. And they hold water differently. Trust the mirror and take photographs.

frackal...you've been here a while... do you learn anything? the more muscle you have the more calories you burn per day. you can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time... in doing so, you LOOK bigger and weigh less. thats the point of it all right? to LOOK bigger!!! this is all a game of images... you make it appear that your shoulders are bigger by shrinking the waist, or most likely make the waist look smaller by getting bigger shoulders... etc.. etc.. its magic!!!

the scale is a lier....follow the mirror...if you want to send me a pic....I'm really good and guess height and weight, one of my many circus like talents

1) A really really lean person will appear bigger than a bigger guy with more bodyfat. It's a fact. You will weigh less and you will LOOK bigger. Ignore the scale and pay more attention to the mirror. 2) There is no way that you need 6,000 calories a day to make gains at under 200lbs. Believe what you want, but you don't need it. At around 200lbs, your BMR is somewhere around 2,400 calories. You don't need 6k cals. 3) You don't need to become a fat fuck to put on muscle. Hence the reason for not needing 6k calories. You can "bulk" without ending up looking like you don't even work out when you're done. 4) Maybe you're getting sick because of eating so much? I know I'd get sick on 6k a day. Again, ignore the scale. The whole point of the BB game is to look bigger and better. If you can look in the mirror and see that you look bigger and better, then wtf is the scale for? I only stand on the scale nowadays for educational purposes. If I hopped on the scale right now and it said that I weighed 150lbs, I wouldn't give a shit because the mirror would disagree. -Warik ------------------ BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL!!!

Are u a hard gainer? that makes no sense. Your strength is going up at least isn't it? when I increased my calories by 1500 last summer I gained 17 lbs in 2 1/2 months and my strength increased a whole ton

Now Austin sounds normal! 6K is a shit load of calories people!!!
Freak Posts: 2664 |
Yeah Austin, you could consider me a hardgainer. I'm not bullshitting, if you want me to post my diet I will. I STILL have a 6 pack also.. Madbomber: I would actually wager to know more than you about bodybuilding, but no matter. It would make more sense for me while gaining to gain both muscle and bodyfat at such a high kcal. Also, my bodyfat has not really increased visibly, but it hasn't decreased either, so whatever that means. Here is my diet for those that are curious.

Frackal, What do your training and cardio routines look like? Perhaps your training/cardio is/are what is/are adversely affecting your gains on a lower calorie diet. To start, you shouldn't be doing cardio at all. The worst thing a person with a fast metabolism who is trying to make gains can do is do cardio. Can't say more until I see how you train. -Warik ------------------ BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL!!!

Warick: My cardio is nil, unless you count the 10 minute walk to and from the gym. I train for no more than 1 hour. I know all about the hormone flux that takes place 30-45 minutes into the workout, but I can't finish my workouts that soon. I've always had a hard-ass time gaining, but my metabolism has NEVER been this high. I have considered dieting just to drop my metabolism, but than I'd lose muscle like crazy, because I don't have much bodyfat at all. Also, anymore than 6000 cals/day clean gets to the point where I don't feel well...

What does your training routine look like? The actual act of lifting weights requires more energy than cardio anyway, so if you are doing too much work in your routine, that may be a factor. I'm out of the gym in under an hour on all three of my training days, and that's including warming up for each exercise. Just don't stress the weight so much and worry about the appearance. If you are getting stronger, then you can't be getting smaller. -Warik ------------------ BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL!!! [This message has been edited by Warik (edited March 02, 2001).]

I do a fair amount of volume in my training routine, so since it's march 2nd, I'm going to try a HIT routine for the entire month, and see what happens. I have been currently training 4x/week, so it'll drop to 3 with less volume. If this doesn't work...well...

Are you using weight gainer? I used NLarge when I was doing my bulking ($40 for 10lb bucket) The shits great, any supplements, it just meaks no sense to me that you aren't gaining weight

Frackal, I suggest that you purchase some digestive enzimes. That might help you a bit!
Freak Posts: 2664 |
quote: Austin that makes no sense. All a weight gainer does is add extra cals....I could get the same effect by knocking down an extra steak and oatmeal combo...
Pro Bodybuilder Posts: 502 |
well something worked, that NLarge stuff is really popular, 52 g protein and 80g carbs per serving, a lot cheaper then a buying steaks

Maybe you are stressing your body by making it deal with all that food. It takes energy to digest food.

It would be an EASY addition to you meal plan to add shakes and that way you wouldn't have to eat even more since you already said it makes you sick. ------------------ |
